What is a CCU RN?

CCU RNs are registered nurses who work in the Coronary Care Unit (CCU), a specialized hospital ward for patients with severe cardiac conditions. These nurses are trained to monitor and care for patients with heart attacks, arrhythmias, heart failure, and other critical heart issues. They use specialized equipment, administer medications, and respond rapidly to cardiac emergencies. CCU RNs play a vital role in collaborating with cardiologists and the healthcare team to provide intensive, lifesaving care.

CCU (Coronary Care Unit) nurses typically earn between $70,000 and $100,000 annually, depending on experience, location, and certifications. They often work in high-stress environments requiring specialized skills in cardiac care and critical patient monitoring.

To thrive as a CCU RN (Critical Care Unit Registered Nurse), you need advanced clinical assessment skills, knowledge of critical care protocols, and a valid RN license often supplemented by critical care certifications like CCRN.
