What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a CCRM (Certified Case Manager), and why are they important?

To thrive as a Certified Case Manager (CCRM), you need a solid background in case management principles, care coordination, and healthcare regulations, typically supported by a relevant degree and case management certification. Familiarity with case management software, electronic medical records (EMR), and utilization review systems is commonly required. Strong interpersonal communication, problem-solving abilities, and organizational skills make a candidate stand out in this role. These competencies are crucial for ensuring coordinated, patient-centered care and achieving optimal outcomes within complex healthcare environments.

What are some of the common challenges faced by a CCRM (Certified Case Manager) in coordinating patient care, and how can they be addressed?

CCRM professionals often encounter challenges such as coordinating between multiple healthcare providers, managing complex patient cases, and ensuring clear communication among all parties involved. These challenges can be addressed by developing strong organizational skills, leveraging case management software, and maintaining open lines of communication with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams. Staying updated with healthcare regulations and continuing education also helps CCMS navigate evolving best practices and improve care outcomes.

Job description

Job Title: Physician Liaison
Location: Newark, DE/Philadelphia, PAN
Reports to: Regional Director, Provider Relations
FLSA Status: Exempt

About CCRM

CCRM is a national leader in fertility care, known for groundbreaking science, personalized medicine, and a relentless focus on delivering exceptional patient outcomes. With more than 35 years of experience and a network of top fertility specialists across the country, we help patients pursue parenthood through innovation, empathy, and clinical excellence.

We are rapidly expanding to serve more families, and we are seeking a driven, personable, and performance-oriented Physician Liaison to help us grow new patient volume in Delaware and Philadelphia—one of the most competitive and dynamic healthcare markets in the country.

About the Role

As a Physician Liaison, you will serve as the frontline connection between CCRM’s fertility services and the broader Obstetrics and Gynecology community. You’ll be responsible for developing strong relationships with referring providers, generating consistent new patient referrals, and representing our brand across OB/GYN practices, women’s health groups, hospitals, and employer partners throughout the city.

This role is best suited for a proactive, confident self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, results-driven environment and understands the nuances of provider engagement in a dense urban setting. This is a field-based position requiring 80%+ time spent actively visiting offices, meeting providers, and hosting strategic events.

Key Responsibilities

1. Referral Development & Market Growth

  • Proactively build and expand a network of referring providers—OB/GYNs, urologists, internists, and relevant women's health specialists.

  • Execute a blend of scheduled meetings, strategic drop-ins, and in-office engagements to promote awareness of CCRM’s services and patient care model.

  • Understand the competitive landscape and identify key differentiators to position CCRM as the provider of choice.

2. Communication & Operational Alignment

  • Meet regularly with Practice Administrators and REIs to ensure alignment on scheduling, clinic services, capacity, and operational updates.

  • Relay referring provider feedback and market trends back to clinical leadership to support informed planning and patient coordination.

3. Performance Ownership

  • Directly accountable for monthly new patient visit (NPV) goals tied to outreach activity.

  • Maintain meticulous records of all provider interactions, events, and leads in Salesforce CRM.

  • Deliver consistent performance reporting and pipeline updates to leadership.

4. Events & Employer Engagement

  • Plan and host provider-focused events (e.g., lunch-and-learns, happy hours, OB education nights) that educate and activate referral partners.

  • Collaborate with local employers and benefits managers to host employee-facing fertility events and health fairs.

  • Represent CCRM at key community events and professional gatherings to enhance visibility and patient acquisition.

5. Internal Collaboration

  • Work closely with the marketing team, REIs, patient services, and clinic staff to ensure referral handoffs are smooth and patient experiences exceed expectations.

  • Share best practices with national PL team to support broader strategic goals.

Key Metrics for Success
  • Number of new patient visits (NPVs) generated monthly from PL-led efforts

  • Growth and retention of referring provider relationships

  • Frequency and quality of field activities (logged visits, meetings, and events)

  • Referral funnel conversion metrics from awareness to appointment

  • Feedback from clinic leadership on PL alignment and impact

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, business, communications, or a related field

  • 2+ years of experience in physician outreach, healthcare sales, or referral development

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a warm, confident, and polished presentation style

  • Strong organizational abilities and proficiency with CRM tools (Salesforce preferred)

  • High emotional intelligence, with the ability to navigate diverse provider personalities and office cultures

  • Comfort traveling throughout the Delaware and Philadelphia region via public transit or personal vehicle

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in fertility, women’s health, or specialty medicine preferred

  • Understanding of fertility benefits (e.g., Progyny, Carrot) and employer commercial insurance plans

  • Familiar with local market trends and demographics, with analytical and strategic mindset

  • Existing relationships with OB/GYNs or provider groups in the Delaware and Philadelphia area

  • Event planning or B2B marketing experience

Working Environment
  • Field-based with frequent travel across Delaware/PA region.

  • Occasional lifting (up to 40 lbs) for events, materials, and set-up

  • Flexibility for occasional early morning or after-hours events
