Anticipated vacancies currently exist for full-time Head Start Preschool Assistants within the Head Start Program in the Division of Student Services of the Chester County Intermediate Unit. These are 200-day positions, working with preschoolers IU Countywide.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • To assist the Child Development Specialist in planning and executing early childhood activities
  • Establish and maintain an effective working relationship with adults and children
  • Assist the teacher in carrying out the duties of caring for children

Qualifications:
  • CDA or Associates Degree in Early Childhood Edcuation required within 2 years of hire
  • Previous exprience working in a childcare/preschool setting strongly preferred
  • Bilingual/Bicultural preferred
  • Current (within one year) police, child abuse & FBI Fingerprint clearances required upon hire
  • Clearance as an MA provider by the Commonwealth of PA and federal government (conducted by CCIU upon hire)
  • NSOR Clearance upon hire

*If hired without an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education or CDA, employees must fulfill an educational requirement to obtain their CDA within 2 years of hire*
Salary Range:
PRJ, Based on years of experience in a relevant position
The Head Start pay scale is broken down below for reference:
  • 0 - 4 yrs experience = $17.91
  • 5 - 10 yrs experience = $19.01
  • 11 - 16 yrs experience = $20.14
  • 17 - 22 yrs experience = $21.25
  • 23 - 28 yrs experience = $22.38
  • 29 - 35 yrs experience = $23.49

Schedule:
7.5 hours per day (8 AM - 4 PM); 5 days per week; 200 days a year
Anticipated Locations Include:
  • Gordon Early Literacy Center: Coatesville, PA
  • West Chester Education Center: West Chester, PA
  • TCHS Pickering: Phoenixville, PA
  • Engle Education Center: West Grove, PA
