Job Description:
The DHS CBP Program Management Office Directorate (PMOD) serves as the Independent Test Authority (ITA) for CBP acquisition programs and requires comprehensive systems engineering and test and evaluation (T&E) support. SimIS seeks a Senior Field Engineer to serve as a team leader for field operations, providing technical expertise and leadership for technology deployment, site surveys, and field testing activities across the Southwest border. This role requires extensive experience with border security technologies, infrastructure requirements, and the ability to lead technical teams in challenging and remote environments. The Senior Field Engineer coordinates multiple field activities while ensuring safety, quality, and mission success.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field
  • Minimum 8 years of field engineering experience with surveillance or detection systems
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred
  • CSEP (Certified Systems Engineering Professional) certification preferred
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DHS suitability background check
  • Proven ability to lead field teams and coordinate complex operations
  • Ability to work in extreme environmental conditions and challenging terrains
  • Extensive travel required to remote border locations
  • 25% travel required
Technical Skills:
  • Expertise in border security technologies (towers, sensors, UAS, detection systems)
  • Experience with site survey procedures and infrastructure assessment
  • Knowledge of power systems, communications links, and system integration
  • Understanding of maintenance procedures and logistics planning
  • Proficiency in technical documentation and field reporting
Key Responsibilities
