Role Purpose

this role is responsible for coordinating and handling customer baggage check-in and misplaced/lost baggage claims, provide reports to carriers, and assist customers with travel information.

Menzies Aviation is seeking a full-time diligent Baggage Service Agent to join our International and Domestic Team. The Baggage Service Agent plays an important role in ensuring that flights run on time by maintaining detailed records of shipped goods, moving baggage and cargo from aircraft, and guiding aircraft to and from their gates.

What you will be doing

  • Ability to read IATA tickets to determine flight departure times and connecting carriers
  • Screens all interline passengers prior to placing bags on the interline return belts
  • Ensures baggage tagging is correct
  • Direct and assist passengers with mis-checked or short checked bags
  • Handles misplaced/lost baggage claims and provides reports to Carriers
  • Evaluates customer’s need concerning airline locations
  • Is able to meet the Station’s attendance standards
  • Other duties as assigned

What we are looking for:

  • High school diploma
  • Previous experience working in an aviation environment, desired.
  • U.S. Customs Seal for access to CBP security areas.
  • Working knowledge of airport safety procedures
  • Ability to work shifts including nights, holidays, weekends, days off, and be able to report to work on a regular and timely
    basis
  • Requires flexibility to work additional hours beyond the regular shift, on short notice, and as needed due to operational
    necessity
  • Must be able to carry, bend, lift and turn with bags weighing up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to perform all duties in various weather conditions and time constraints
  • Ability to read, write, fluently speak and understand the English language
