Job description

Job Title: Design Engineer

Location: Raymond, OH


Job Responsibilities

  • Work closely with HDMA PICs (Persons In Charge) to develop feasible design layouts and resolve engineering/design issues.
  • Create and modify 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings using CATIA V5 and V6.
  • Perform layout and drawing issue resolution and manage DPM-related activities.
  • Manage BOM (Bill of Materials) price and weight targets.
  • Review previous-program and similar-program CAD data to support current design development.
  • Utilize Class-A surface data, guidance sections/start parts, standards, guidelines, problem-history documents, and preliminary BOMs as design inputs.
  • Perform design analysis and develop appropriate engineering procedures to resolve technical issues.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure parts and services are properly requested and delivered.
  • Review and evaluate supplier technical proposals and provide engineering recommendations.
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports, layouts, and engineering deliverables.
  • Manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously while meeting project timelines and quality requirements.
  • Make technical decisions with moderate supervision and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Collaborate effectively with Honda engineering teams, suppliers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Support additional engineering and design activities as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering.
  • Experience equivalent to an Engineer L2 level.
  • Strong CATIA V5 and CATIA V6 experience.
  • Ability to create and modify 3D models and 2D drawings.
  • Strong understanding of engineering layouts, drawings, BOMs, and design issue resolution.
  • Ability to manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with suppliers/vendors and evaluating technical proposals.
  • Strong technical writing and technical documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong computer skills for engineering/scientific applications.
  • Ability to make technical decisions with moderate supervision.
