What is a Catia programmer?

Catia Programmers are professionals who specialize in using CATIA, a powerful computer-aided design (CAD) software developed by Dassault Systèmes, to create, modify, and optimize 3D models and engineering designs. They write scripts and macros to automate tasks, customize workflows, and integrate CATIA with other software tools, primarily for industries like aerospace, automotive, and manufacturing. Their work helps streamline the design process, improve product quality, and reduce development time.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Catia programmer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Catia Programmer, you need expertise in computer-aided design (CAD), 3D modeling, and engineering principles, typically supported by a degree in engineering or a related field. Proficiency in CATIA software, knowledge of PLM systems like ENOVIA, and sometimes certifications from Dassault Systèmes are highly valued. Attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and effective communication help you collaborate with engineers and ensure design accuracy. These skills are crucial for delivering precise, manufacturable designs and supporting efficient product development cycles.

What are some typical challenges Catia programmers face when working on complex design projects?

Catia Programmers often encounter challenges such as managing large assemblies, ensuring compatibility between different CAD files, and optimizing scripts for efficiency. Collaboration with design engineers and manufacturing teams is crucial to interpret requirements accurately and implement changes quickly. Additionally, staying updated with the latest Catia modules and best practices helps in addressing project-specific constraints and delivering high-quality outputs within tight deadlines.

Job description

CNC Programmer – 3, 4 & 5 Axis

Do you enjoy taking a complex aerospace drawing and figuring out exactly how to machine it?
As our CNC Programmer, you'll turn engineering designs into the programs, tooling, and processes used to manufacture highly complex aerospace components.
You'll work with NX, CATIA, Vericut, 3-, 4- and 5-axis machining, developing and verifying programs before they ever reach the production floor.
Whether you're growing your CNC programming career or you're an experienced programmer who can take on advanced 5-axis parts, we have opportunities at multiple levels.
Your programs will directly support the manufacturing of precision components used in fighter jets, satellites, and some of today's most advanced aerospace programs.
If you're ready to put your programming and machining knowledge to work on something bigger,
then KEEP READING and APPLY NOW!
Why Join Orizon Aerostructures?
We manufacture and assemble some of the most complex monolithic machined parts using some of the fastest, most advanced CNC machines and manufacturing technologies in the world.
You'll work alongside experienced programmers, engineers, machinists, and quality teams while continuing to build your skills and take on increasingly complex aerospace programs.
What's in This for You:
Competitive Pay: $25 - $55 per hour based on experience and location
Shift: Monday through Friday, 7am to 3:30 pm
Exceptional Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) matching, Flexible Spending Account, PTO
*Locations available: Wichita, KS / Olathe, KS / Grove, OK / Chanute, KS
Your New Role:
  • Review and interpret aerospace drawings, customer requirements, and GD&T
  • Develop CNC programs using NX and/or CATIA
  • Design tooling, fixtures, workholding, and machining processes
  • Program 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC machining based on your experience level
  • Use Vericut to simulate and verify programs before releasing them to production
  • Work directly with Manufacturing/Application Engineering, Planning, and Quality to improve production processes
  • Develop setup sheets, operation instructions, and work instructions
  • Support first-piece acceptance and establish in-process verification requirements
  • Troubleshoot programming and machining issues
  • Improve first-pass yield, cycle times, programming hours, and overall machining performance
  • Participate in Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations
  • Maintain and archive proven programs for production
  • Support production to keep quality and delivery schedules on track

What You Need to Succeed:
  • CNC programming experience in a machining/manufacturing environment
  • Experience with NX and/or CATIA
