Job description

Description
St. Luke's Parish is seeking a full-time Pastoral Associate. This member of the pastoral staff will collaborate with the pastor, priests, deacons, and other parish ministries to serve the needs of the community. Areas of focus include adult faith formation, spiritual care, as well as outreach to the homebound and bereaved. This person will lead the OCIA and Adult Confirmation processes, the Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist, and the Bereavement ministry.
Will be working closely with the pastor to determine the spiritual needs of the parish and development of programs and activities to meet those needs Must be available during weekend liturgies and meetings in the evening and early morning.
Requirements
  • Must be Roman Catholic and in full communion with the Catholic Church
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of the Catholic Church and its mission
  • Must have received formation in the Catholic Church and Sacramental Theology
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and observational skills
  • Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality for all sensitive matters relating to persons and parish information
  • Must be able to give direction and coordinate work for self and others
  • Must be able to read cursive and demonstrate excellent record keeping skills
  • Must demonstrate the ability to present oneself modestly and professionally
  • Must demonstrate the ability to organize, prioritize and work effectively and efficiently
  • Must demonstrate good computer and technology skills including, use of MS Office applications, Zoom, digital media for catechesis, and the ability to learn other business applications software.
  • Must always use professional etiquette in all forms of communication
  • Must be able to work collaboratively and demonstrate the ability to adapt to changes in routines and schedules

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
BA, preferably in the area of theology or counseling
MA in religious studies, theology or counseling is preferred
Experience in counseling work, particularly in bereavement
Training in the OCIA process
Three to five years of experience as a Pastoral Associate
