Job description

Conway Medical Center is seeking an Interventional Cardiologist to join its growing team to meet the increasing demand for cardiovascular services in the community. The role will focus on interventional and general cardiology care, supported by advanced diagnostic, two cath labs and imaging technology. The physician will work closely with a collaborative team of cardiologists, nurse practitioners, and a strong primary care referral base to provide comprehensive cardiac care. 

POSITION OVERVIEW: 

  • Primarily outpatient clinical role with inpatient responsibilities. 
  • Standard office hours (Mon-Thurs: 8am-5pm / Friday 8am-12pm) 
  • Protected administrative time (4.5 days clinic time with .5-day admin time per week) 
  • 36 patient contact hours / 4 admin hours 
  • Call Schedule: 1:4 Stemi call (1:3 with CMC, 1 weekend per month covered by MUSC IC physicians; 1:6 rotation for general cardiology call.) 
  • Cerner EMR 

PATIENT VOLUME & CENSUS: 

  • Average Patient Volume: 18-22 patients per day 
  • Demographics: Demographics: Adults with a wide range of cardiac conditions. 

 PATIENT POPULATION:

  • Primarily adults aged 55 and older, including smokers and individuals with peripheral Cardiac Care conditions such as claudication. 
  • Community Fit: Conway Medical Center has the largest primary care network in the market, serving a growing population that aligns with Cardiac Care needs. 

 SCOPE OF WORK: 

  • Visit Types: Interventional Cardiologist consultations, follow-ups, and diagnostic testing. 
  • Consultative service only hospitalists manage admissions. 
  • Advanced diagnostic capabilities, including Echocardiography (TTE/TEE), Stress testing (treadmill, nuclear), Cardiac CT and MRI, 256-slice CT scanner for advanced imaging. 
  • Support from a full cardiac device clinic and a team of dedicated technicians.

  • All physicians are board eligible (board certified within 5 years of final year of training) or board certified

The Cardiac Care clinic works closely with Interventional Cardiac Care,  sharing a collaborative space. There are potential cross-referrals between interventional radiology (IR), cardiac care, and Cardiac Care procedures, particularly in the Cath lab. 

  • Hybrid Room Development: There are plans to build a hybrid room for minimally invasive procedures, providing an opportunity to further develop the Cardiac Care surgery service line. 
  • Robotic Surgery: The da Vinci Robotic Surgical System is available for complex Cardiac Care surgeries, offering enhanced precision and improved patient outcomes. 

CLINIC/FACILITY: 

  • Facilities: 2-room Cath lab, 10 operating rooms, and a 14-bed Cardiac Monitoring Unit (CMU).
  • Cardiology Team: Clinic space is directly connected to the Cath lab, providing streamlined workflow and collaborative potential.
  • The clinic provides in-house wound care with hyperbaric chambers, supporting Cardiac Care and wound care integration. 
  • Largest Dedicated Service Space in Market: Opportunity for growth within a highly equipped service area. 

IMAGING/DIAGNOSTICS: 

  • Equipment: DSA, 256-slice CT scanner, MRI (3T and 1.5T options), and in-office ultrasound machine, all essential for advanced imaging and diagnostics.
