Education

  • High school graduate or equivalent

Experience / Qualifications

  • Certified nursing assistant (CNA) or medical assistant (MA) preferred
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers.
  • Knowledge of computer software and PC skills.
  • Experience in the customer relations, scheduling, and office management preferred.

Position Summary

This position supports department leadership in the daily functions of the Cath Lab Services. In the Acute Recovery Unit, under the supervision of the registered nurses, the Cath Lab Assistant will perform a variety of duties related to unit coordination, scheduling of procedures, and patient care.

Responsiblilities include

  • Scheduling of Procedures for CATH, EP, CARDIOLOGY, NUC MED, ANESTHESIA, etc.
    • Making copies of physician orders for pre-registration and delivering them to admitting.
    • Preparing patient charts for following the day.
    • Printing Daily schedule.
    • Preparing "Hand Off Tool" to accompany physician order for charts.
    • Calling physician's offices for missing orders, labs, EKG's, signed consents.
    • Will assist in maintaining scheduling grids and general office tasks
    • Will assist nurses in post op follow-up phone calls.
  • Patient Care
    • Assist in pre/post op care of Cath/EP Lab and Cardiology patients within scope of practice
    • Sheath removal/TR band removal and monitoring
    • Perform patient transport activities
    • Communicate with patient in preferred language, knowledge of accessing and use of language line.
  • Unit Coordination
    • Cover and/or assist the Client Service Coordinator to schedule patients
    • Record, maintain, and order all needed equipment and supplies, both in-house and POs for procedural rooms & ARU
    • Maintains supply room inventory as well as all of the procedure rooms.
    • Coordinates stocking of all incoming supplies, recording of received inventory.
    • Ordering and delivering supplies for Cath Lab, ARU, EP.
    • Helping manager with office duties such as laminating, copying, and filling
    • Keeping line of communication open with team members via email and other digital modalities.
    • Report any incidents through proper chain of command and complete incident reports as needed in timely manner.
  • Participate in unit- based initiatives, community outreach, and team building projects.
  • Must be able to multi-task job responsibilities and function with minimal supervision.
  • Must exhibit ability to work independently as well as member of a high performing team.
  • Other duties assigned.
