Kathy G. & Company Inc. is a local catering and event company based in Birmingham, Alabama, dedicated to providing exceptional culinary experiences for a variety of events. Kathy G. & Company Inc. has been a Brand name to Catering & Events for the past twenty-five years. We are a family-based company that is always working to present a cutting-edge culinary approach to our client’s events. I am searching for a new Executive Chef for our Catering division of the Company. Kathy G. & Company manages a main off-premises kitchen space, plus two separate restaurants located at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens & the Birmingham Museum of Art.

Summary

As the Executive Chef of the off-premises Catering Kitchen, you will play a vital role in our kitchen team by preparing high-quality meals and supporting our catering operations. The Catering Kitchen will be required to produce all off-premises catering plus in-house catering events located at the Birmingham Museum of Art. This position is essential to our mission of delivering outstanding food experiences that delight our clients. Responsibilities would include training and development of kitchen staff & team members, quality assurance checks, assistance in menu development, pricing & execution of catering events off premises.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and develop diverse menus tailored to mixed clientele events. Work & Learn existing Menus & Food stations that the Company currently are in use
  • Executive Catering Chef will be responsible for all orders from our suppliers, for food, supplies, anything required for production for any upcoming catering events.
  • Oversee food preparation and presentation to maintain high-quality standards
  • Coordinate logistics and execution for local & out of town catering events
  • Supervise and lead a small kitchen team of 1-6 staff members
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all food handling
  • Manage inventory and control food costs effectively
  • Utilize specialized catering and event management software for operations
  • Maintain quality control throughout all stages of catering service

 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in progressive culinary leadership
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience catering, events, banquet or hospitality management
  • Proven skills in menu development and culinary techniques
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation, and allergen management practices
  • Microsoft office proficiency
  • Experience in event planning and catering logistics
  • Competence in cost management and inventory control
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate employees and obtain positive results
  • SERV Safe Management Certification
