β€’ Supervise, train, and monitor assigned claims adjusters and other claims personnel
β€’ Assist Claims Leadership in overseeing and handling claims
β€’ Manage operations of the designated area of authority
β€’ Interview, hire, train, direct, assess, and develop personnel; coordinate discipline as required
β€’ Regularly review claims and adjusters’ files for coverage and adequate reserves
β€’ Answer claims questions, review claim correspondence, and counsel on further action
β€’ Resolve coverage and unusual questions within designated authority and conduct related research
β€’ Maintain and apply working knowledge of adjusters’ files and statutory laws
β€’ Recommend and participate in developing and evaluating claims procedures with the Claims Manager
β€’ Handle claim complaints and inquiries
β€’ Assist the Claims Manager and act on the manager’s behalf as necessary
β€’ Receive and direct processing of legal papers served upon ERIE involving claims actions
β€’ Direct activities of outside legal counsel as required
β€’ Assist with trial preparation and attend pre-trial functions and trials as necessary
β€’ Review reports, payments, and buyer information
β€’ Negotiate with salvage auctions and salvage yards when required
β€’ Contribute to projects, initiatives, teams, and assignments supporting business strategy and operational outcomes
β€’ Serve on the Catastrophe Team, potentially traveling on short notice for more than two consecutive weeks
β€’ Maintain regular and predictable attendance and onsite presence as required by business and operational needs

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent and six years of claims related experience required; or
  • Associate degree and four years of claims related experience required; or
  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of claims related experience required
  • Appropriate license(s) as required by applicable state(s), including the ability to secure and maintain dual or multiple licenses as business needs require
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Ability to serve on the Catastrophe Team, including short-notice travel to other locations for periods exceeding two consecutive weeks
  • Experience using estimating software preferred
  • Experience in a leadership role preferred
  • Completion of Associate in Claims (AIC) designation preferred
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required
  • Manual keying/data entry/inputting information/computer use often (20–50%)
  • Occasional driving (<20%)
