Job description

Position Overview:

The Assistant Superintendent plays a crucial role in supporting both the Superintendent and Project Manager in the successful execution of construction projects. This position oversees subcontractor coordination, preparation of comprehensive project reports, facilitating meetings, organizing workspaces and trailers, and executing various tasks as assigned by project leadership 

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Effectively prepare a complete Daily Construction Report that is well-written, accurately records weather conditions, delineates specific activities and manpower, and includes project photos taken routinely.
  • Maintain individual cost tracking logs on site and effectively manage cost expenditures.
  • Interact with subcontractors in a professional manner by communicating expectations clearly and providing guidance as needed. Address any issues or concerns promptly and professionally to ensure smooth operations.
  • Proactively schedule work to expedite the project and address any issues with subcontractors early on by planning and organizing tasks in advance and promptly resolving any problems with subcontractors to avoid delays.
  • Prepare daily and weekly safety reports to ensure all safety protocols are being followed and documented. Attend mandatory monthly safety meetings to stay updated on safety regulations and practices.
  • Prepares Daily/Weekly/Event SWMP Reports; and ensure that BMP's are in place.
  • Read, research, coordinate, and understand project documents at least 2-3 weeks prior to the start of tasks to ensure thorough preparation.
  • Review submittals before the installation of work to verify compliance with project requirements.
  • Prepare, track, and maintain the project turnover matrix, ensuring it includes all jurisdictional sign-offs and owner requirements.
  • Develop the project punch-list in association with the Project Manager (PM) to ensure all tasks are identified and addressed. Take responsibility for completing the punch-list within two weeks of its issuance.
  • Taking part in various aspects of the job, gaining exposure to different tasks and processes, even if not yet fully responsible for them.
  • Proactively take on various tasks to reduce the workload of superintendents, ensuring they can focus on higher-level responsibilities.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • People and project management skills and abilities
  • A safety champion who leads by example
  • Refined organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks for self, team, and projects
  • Strong communication skills including listening, presenting, interpersonal and written
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience training with a general contractor, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred 
  • High School Diploma or general education degree (G.E.D.), or preferably a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project) and experience with (or ability to learn) Procore

Compensation:

In addition to offering a competitive base salary, Catamount employees are eligible for additional incentives for merit/performance, project incentives, new hire referrals, and business development commissions.
