About IBM Cybersecurity
IBM Cybersecurity brings together security consultants, engineers, analysts, responders, and technical specialists who help organizations strengthen resilience against evolving cyber threats. We are looking for early-career professionals excited to build technical skills and contribute to meaningful client work from day one. In this role, you'll support real-world cybersecurity challenges across security operations, cloud security, identity and access management, risk management, threat detection, incident response, and emerging technologies.
At IBM Consulting, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting enterprise-scale cybersecurity programs while developing technical, consulting, and business expertise in a collaborative environment.

Your role and responsibilities
During your internship, you will support real client security projects that help organizations protect applications, data, cloud environments, and critical infrastructure.
You'll work alongside experienced consultants while building hands-on experience in cybersecurity, cloud technologies, security operations, automation, and AI-enabled security capabilities. Interns may also be considered for IBM's full-time Associates program based on performance and business needs.
Working with senior security consultants, you will help analyze business and technical requirements and support security solutions across people, processes, and technology.
You may contribute to activities including:
• Security monitoring and threat detection
• Identity and access management
• Cloud and infrastructure security
• Risk management and security implementation activities
• Modern security tooling, automation, and AI-driven cybersecurity workflows
Required education
High School Diploma/GED
Preferred education
Bachelor's Degree
Required technical and professional expertise
• Currently pursuing a university degree with a strong record of academic achievement (preferred majors: Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, MIS Engineering, or related technical disciplines)
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills, adaptability, and resilience in collaborative or project- based environments
• Familiarity with network architecture, network security concepts, authentication and authorization methods, and encryption protocols
• Exposure to one or more cybersecurity domains such as Threat Management, Security Operations, Data and Application Security, Identity &Access Management, Cloud Security, Infrastructure Security, or Governance, Risk, and Compliance
• Knowledge of areas such as network security, software engineering, web or mobile application development, identity technologies, or secure application design
• Familiarity with security and infrastructure tools such as vulnerability scanners, monitoring platforms, firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, packet analysis tools, or encryption technologies
• Interest in emerging cybersecurity trends including security automation, AI-assisted threat detection, and modern cloud security practices
• Willingness to travel up to 100%
Preferred technical and professional experience
• Ability to understand client challenges and contribute creative, logical, and practical solutions.
• Working knowledge of programming or scripting languages such as Python, Java, C/C++, Ruby, Go/Golang, Bash, or C#, with exposure to software testing, automation frameworks, DevSecOps, or secure coding practices.
• Interest in modern technology environments including cloud platforms, infrastructure automation, AI-driven tools, and collaborative development workflows is beneficial
