Senior Systems Administrator - Infrastructure Team Lead - Orlando Venues

AmpThink

Orlando, FL

Job description

AmpThink is a leading provider of technology systems for world-class stadiums and arenas throughout North America. This position is based at the Kia Center in Orlando, FL. We're looking for a hands-on technologist - someone equally comfortable managing physical and virtual server infrastructure as they are troubleshooting a network - to own the technical operations of two major venues: Kia Center and Camping World Stadium.

This is not a pure network administration role. The ideal candidate treats the network as one layer of a larger systems stack that includes compute, virtualization, storage, and the applications running on top of it. This role leads the Orlando infrastructure team's day-to-day technical direction - coordinating priorities, workload, and event-day response - without formal people-management authority; the team continues to report administratively to a separate Regional Manager. You'll be the primary technical owner for these venues and the lead point of contact for stakeholder communications on-site, supported by AmpThink's team of technology architects, field engineers, and project managers.

In addition to Orlando, you'll have the opportunity to consult on projects outside the market, including SoFi Stadium/Hollywood Park, New York City FC, the new Nissan Stadium, and other iconic venues. Travel is capped at roughly 25% of scheduled work, with 75% dedicated to on-site venue operations.

Functions and Responsibilities

Lead the day-to-day technical direction of the Orlando infrastructure team - coordinating priorities, workload, and event-day response - while reporting administratively to a separate Regional Manager.

Serve as the lead communicator with venue stakeholders - team ownership, event operations, IT staff, and third-party vendors - on all technical matters affecting the network, systems, and event-day readiness.

Own the full systems lifecycle at the venue: server and hypervisor administration, storage and backup infrastructure, network components, and the integration of new building systems.

Administer and maintain the venue's compute and virtualization environment (hypervisor hosts, VM lifecycle, storage arrays, backup/replication systems), alongside the underlying multi-layer Cisco Catalyst network connecting telecom rooms, pedestals, and the on-site data center.

Provision, patch, and troubleshoot servers supporting arena applications - ticketing, POS, IPTV, digital signage, Wi-Fi controllers, telephony - treating these as systems to be engineered and maintained, not just endpoints on a network.

Participate in project bills of materials (BOMs), development of network and systems strategy for the arena and adjacent parking structure, and technical planning for new initiatives.

Produce clear technical documentation for delivered systems, including:

       Server/compute architecture and configuration documentation.

High-level and low-level network design documents (IP network, Wi-Fi, IPTV, compute, telephony).

       Sub-contractor and third-party systems/networking requirements.

Support arena IT initiatives by provisioning and optimizing infrastructure - server and network alike - for each application running on campus.

Participate in arena support and manage help desk tickets assigned to the infrastructure team, with an emphasis on root-cause resolution rather than surface-level fixes.

Act as the primary technical liaison during live events, coordinating in real time with venue operations and vendor teams to resolve issues quickly and keep stakeholders informed.

Requirements

Education and/or Work Experience

3+ years of experience administering servers and systems infrastructure in a technology-based business or engineering firm (virtualization, storage, or enterprise compute environments strongly preferred).

A technical/IT or engineering degree in a related field; Bachelor's degree preferred.

Strong working knowledge of enterprise virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Nutanix, Hyper-V) and server operating systems (Windows Server and/or Linux).

Solid working knowledge of Cisco networking (CCNA-level or equivalent hands-on experience); CCNP a plus but not required - this role prioritizes breadth across systems over deep network specialization.

Skills

Ability to work in a high-pressure, multi-priority environment with competing personalities and deadlines.

Ability to build and maintain strong relationships both inside and outside the organization.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to diagnose and articulate solutions across the full stack - server, storage, virtualization, and network.

Excellent communication skills, including the ability to lead stakeholder conversations, translate technical detail for non-technical audiences, and act as the face of AmpThink's technical team at the venue.

Comfort with scripting/automation (PowerShell, Python, or similar) for operational efficiency a strong plus.

Capability to multi-task and respond to change effectively and positively.

A passion for learning and continuous education across emerging systems and infrastructure technologies.

Comprehensive knowledge of IT systems and how they function together, not just how they're connected.

Other

       Mandatory background and drug screening.
