Job description

Summary of Job:

The Casting Technician is responsible for properly applying babbitt to raw materials in a wide variety of methods. The Babbitting process is a vital part of the manufacturing process. We are seeking an experienced casting/foundry technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the application and processes of molten metals.

Some key responsibilities include:

  • Cleaning, dis-assembly of fluid film bearings
  • Grit Blasting
  • Setting up spin casting equipment
  • Applying molten babbitt by static or spin casting method

Qualifications Desired:

We seek a self-motivated individual who can follow processes in a variety of verbal and written methods. Working knowledge and responsibilities include:

  • Knowledge of foundry or casting room equipment and tools

  • Basic understanding of ferrous and non-ferrous materials

  • Tig welding

  • Fabrication knowledge and experience

  • Acetylene torch operation

  • Knowledge of furnaces and melting pots

  • Overhead crane operation

  • Experience working with routings, drawings, and process sheets

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently

Physical Requirements:The requirements listed below are examples of the conditions, skills, and abilities needed to perform the necessary tasks of this position and need to be more inclusive.

  • Indoor casting foundry environment with hot work
  • Frequent lifting and moving up to 50 lbs.
  • Stoop, bend, crawl, reach, stand, and walk frequently.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, hear, concentrate, and comprehend complex data.
