Job description

Pharmacy Cashier / Front-End Associate

We are seeking a friendly, dependable, and detail-oriented Pharmacy Cashier / Front-End Associate to join our retail pharmacy team.

The ideal candidate should have excellent customer service skills, be comfortable working in a fast-paced pharmacy environment, and be able to assist with front-end operations.

Experience operating a NYS Lottery terminal is a strong plus. Previous pharmacy experience, knowledge of PrimeRx pharmacy software, and basic pharmacy knowledge are also preferred.

We are looking for someone who is reliable, organized, professional, a quick learner, and comfortable interacting with customers throughout the day.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and assist customers with the NYS Lottery terminal
  • Accurately handle NYS Lottery transactions, payouts, and daily procedures
  • Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner
  • Operate the cash register/POS system and accurately process cash, credit card, and other transactions
  • Assist customers with OTC products and general front-end questions
  • Answer incoming phone calls professionally and direct calls to the appropriate pharmacy staff
  • Assist customers with prescription pickup and other basic pharmacy transactions
  • Refer medication, clinical, and other pharmacist-required questions to the pharmacist
  • Keep the front counter, shelves, and customer areas clean, organized, and properly stocked
  • Receive, price, stock, and organize merchandise
  • Monitor front-end inventory and assist with restocking and ordering as needed
  • Assist with OTC and general merchandise displays
  • Maintain patient privacy and follow HIPAA requirements and pharmacy policies
  • Assist pharmacists and pharmacy technicians with appropriate front-end and administrative tasks
  • Provide excellent customer service and help create a welcoming environment for our patients and customers
  • Maintain an organized and efficient front-end workflow

Preferred Experience & Qualifications

  • NYS Lottery experience is a strong PLUS
  • Experience with PrimeRx pharmacy software is a PLUS
  • Previous pharmacy, retail, or cashier experience
  • Basic understanding of pharmacy terminology and pharmacy workflow is a PLUS
  • Familiarity with prescription pickup procedures and patient information
  • Comfortable handling cash and processing transactions accurately
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Dependable, punctual, and responsible
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized in a busy pharmacy environment
  • Professional, friendly, and willing to learn
  • Ability to work well with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other team members
  • Spanish speaking is a PLUS
