Job description

Cash Applications Specialist (Legal)
Fairlawn, OH | Direct Hire | $58,000 - $65,000 DOE (Hybrid once trained 1-2 days work from home)
Key Responsibilities
  • Apply incoming payments, including checks, ACH payments, wire transfers, and credit card transactions, to client accounts and invoices accurately and timely.
  • Reconcile daily cash receipts and investigate discrepancies to ensure accurate financial records.
  • Partner with Billing, Accounts Receivable, and Client Services teams to resolve unapplied or misapplied payments.
  • Communicate with clients, attorneys, and internal team members regarding payment details, account status, and remittance information.
  • Process one-time credit card payments received by mail and email.
  • Coordinate the transmittal of checks to the bank.
  • Process account adjustments and corrections as needed.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records of all cash application activities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve cash application processes and enhance operational efficiency.

Required
  • Hands-on experience with 3E Legal Accounting Software (required).
  • Minimum of 2 years of cash application experience within a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
  • Excellent data entry, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.

Additional Requirements
Candidates must successfully pass a background check and credit check as a condition of employment.
