Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Monitors the activity of long-term residents participating in a residential rehabilitation or treatment program; ensures the safety, security and compliance to house rules; maintains accurate and complete client and case records and logs containing pertinent information; ensures that the long-term housing facility is maintained in a neat and proper order; ensures compliance of the treatment plan and teaching skills are adhered to.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This position description should not be interpreted as all inclusive. It is intended to identify the major responsibilities and requirements of this position. The incumbents may be requested to perform job-related responsibilities and tasks other than those stated in this position description.

Monitors the activities of the resident’s ensuring safety and compliance with long-term resident facility house rules; checks the security of all windows and doors; makes periodic rounds of entire facility; records any unique situations occurring on assigned shift.

Supports the teaching of social skills and other residential program house rules; provides support for treatment plans and individualized service plans; monitors client activities to ensure residents are adhering to their plans.

Responds to emergencies in a calm manner and initiates appropriate corrective actions in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Completes required paperwork representing client intake as well as daily case notes; inputs data into the computer to maintain client records.

Assists with all verbal and physical aggressions that might occur from residents.

Assists in referrals for admission to Treatment Program; maintains waiting list.

Maintains necessary contacts with other agencies, as needed, to assure coordination of services to residents.

Ensures the training and assistance in developing and maintaining basic living skills.

Attends meetings as requested by the Program Director.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides transportation of clients as needed.

Directs clients to appropriate agencies for their special needs.

Performs other related work as required.

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

Ability to meet attendance requirements.

Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.

Ability to respond to emergency situations quickly and calmly while maintaining control and initiating the proper corrective action.

Ability to perform combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis. Distance of travel is usually within the same building.

Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.) 5-10% of work time.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work is performed in a lodge/shelter facility where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Associate degree from an accredited college or university.

and

one year experience performing security or social service work preferred,

or

any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
