Job Description

CDM Smith is looking for an Environmental, Water Resources, or Civil Engineering Intern or Co-Op to join our team and gain hands-on experience working on real-world water and infrastructure projects.

As a member of our team, you’ll work alongside industry-leading engineers on a diverse portfolio of municipal, federal, and industrial projects. You’ll collaborate with experienced professionals, fellow interns, and multidisciplinary project teams while gaining exposure to different areas of engineering and project delivery.

As a CDM Smith Intern or Co-Op, you will:

  • Research and evaluate engineering solutions to support project analyses, reporting, and design.
  • Assist with the development of engineering calculations, technical reports, project documentation, and presentations.
  • Gain hands-on experience using tools such as ArcGIS, HEC-RAS, SWMM, CADD, Excel, and other engineering software.
  • Work alongside senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams to support project deliverables and solve engineering challenges.
  • Participate in team meetings and gain exposure to client and project interactions.
  • Assist with fieldwork and construction management activities, providing a firsthand look at projects throughout the full project lifecycle.
  • Build your professional network while developing technical skills that complement your academic experience.

The CDM Smith Internship Program gives students the opportunity to turn classroom knowledge into real-world engineering experience. Interns work alongside experienced professionals on meaningful projects across water, environmental, civil, and other engineering disciplines while gaining hands-on experience with industry tools, project teams, and client work.

Our interns are encouraged to ask questions, take on meaningful responsibilities, build their professional networks, and explore potential career paths within CDM Smith. Whether working in the office, in the field, or alongside multidisciplinary project teams, the program provides a well-rounded experience designed to prepare students for a successful engineering career.


Qualifications
Currently enrolled and taking courses toward a Bachelors in Environmental, Civil, Chemical Engineering or a related engineering field is required.

Additional Pay Range Information
CDM Smith is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. This pay range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels for the geographic location assigned to the position. In addition to geographic location, a candidate's salary is determined by several other factors including, but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, relevant work experience, skills, required certifications, and education/training.
Additional Compensation
All bonuses at CDM Smith are discretionary and may or may not apply to this position.
