Job description

Shipper/Receiver:

Position is responsible for the final check, prep, painting, and packaging of all shafts.ย 

Shipping paperwork will be prepared for all shafts to be shipped by common carrier and the containers will be labelled and marked per established procedures.ย  Appropriate paperwork is completed and distributed for all repair shafts or parts received.ย  Other duties will include the proper storage and handling of any and all hazardous chemicals used in the painting process and the painting of miscellaneous machinery as needed.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  1. Visually check completed shafts/parts for any defects and proper I.D. number.
  2. Prepare proper mixture of paint/primer. Clean, prep, and paint shafts/parts and prepare for shipping.
  3. Verify that all accessories listed on the sales order are installed or included with shipment.
  4. Determine material required for and build shipping crates necessary for shipping or prepare shipping cores as appropriate.
  5. Package shaft/parts/finished goods/accessories according to established procedures and affix proper labels and documentation.
  6. Weigh shafts to determine shipping method and complete proper paperwork for all product moving by common carrier.
  7. Assist carrier with loading of product where required.
  8. Receive in all repair items; complete and distribute necessary paperwork identifying type of product, size, accessories included, serial number, customer name, date received, and method of transportation used.
  9. Mark identification and move repair items to proper holding area for disposition.
  10. Paint any manufacturing equipment or machinery as needed.
  11. Prepare and submit order list to maintain proper inventory of paint and shipping supplies.
  12. Clean and maintain all equipment; inform supervisor of any equipment defects.
  13. Maintain neat and clean working area.
  14. Store all chemicals properly including any flammables.
  15. Wear and maintain proper safety equipment including respirators, splash goggles, gloves, and hearing protection.
  16. Replace filter in paint booth exhaust system as required.
  17. Assist in other areas of manufacturing as required.
  18. Work in a safe manner at all times following established policies and procedure.

Skills and Abilities:

  1. High school education with some specialized training related to the building trades.
  2. Six months experience is desired in painting or the building trades.
  3. Ability to follow written or verbal instructions and reach job related decisions following existing policies, procedures or precedents.
  4. Mathematical aptitude in calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
  5. Ability to communicate effectively with administrative personnel and transportation vendors and legibly complete required shipping paperwork.

Physical Abilities:

  1. Ability to exert in excess of 100 lbs. of force occasionally, 50 lbs. frequently and 20 lbs. constantly to move product.
  2. Good corrected vision, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.
  3. Strenuous position requires continuous stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, and grasping.
