Job Summary

Serves as a skilled and detail-oriented Commercial Carpenter within our construction team. Responsible for building, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures for commercial properties, including offices, retail spaces, and industrial facilities. Demonstrates expertise in reading blueprints, applying construction techniques, and maintaining strict safety standards to ensure high-quality craftsmanship on all projects.


Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build, install, and repair frameworks, partitions, flooring, ceilings, cabinetry, and other wooden or metal fixtures in commercial buildings.
  • Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to ensure accurate construction and adherence to project specifications.
  • Select appropriate materials and measure dimensions to ensure precise cutting and assembly.
  • Execute framing, drywall installation, and finishing work to create polished interiors and exteriors.
  • Work closely with project managers, architects, and other tradespeople to complete projects on time and within budget.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and machinery such as saws, drills, and nail guns.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure it meets structural and aesthetic standards, as well as building codes.
  • Adhere to workplace safety policies and procedures to minimize risks and hazards on the job site.
  • Address construction challenges or unexpected issues to keep projects on track.
  • Practice good construction techniques that will be beneficial to the project and the company.


Skills and Qualifications

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools and construction equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings and plans preferred.
  • Excellent math and measurement skills.
  • Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy materials and work in various conditions.
  • Requires lifting, standing, bending and climbing.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent; trade school or apprenticeship program preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials and building codes.
  • Knowledge of construction techniques.
  • 3-5 years' experience as a Commercial Carpenter (or similar role).
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations; OSHA certification desired.
