JOB DESCRIPTION: Facilities Technician
Reports to: Property Manager
Location: Portfolio of properties in and around Taunton, MA
Summary/Objective
The Facilities Technician is responsible for general repairs, routine maintenance, and basic cleaning across multiple properties in the Taunton, MA area.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine cleaning and light maintenance across multiple facilities
  • Handle basic repairs related to plumbing, electrical, carpentry and general mechanics as seen necessary by the Properties Manager
  • Clean locker rooms and shower areas after facility closing hours
  • Set up rooms for meetings and programs
  • Respond to service requests via dispatch
  • Diagnose and complete repairs based on scope and your capabilities
  • Communicate with vendors, dispatch, and the Property Manager regarding ongoing work
  • Conduct regular preventive maintenance inspections
  • Coordinate with tenants and clients about repair schedules or facility needs
Essential Functions
  • Communicate effectively with vendors and staff about repair needs and access details
  • Plan and complete small projects, including purchasing materials and documenting progress
  • Track repair status and share updates with tenants, clients, and supervisors
  • Respond to emergencies and identify critical shut-off points (water, gas, fire systems)
  • Use hand tools, power tools, meters, and other maintenance equipment
  • Maintain safe and clean work areas in compliance with company and safety regulations
Requirements
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach
  • Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record
  • Must own tools needed for a range of general repairs
  • Basic computer skills (email, Microsoft Excel)
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Willingness to be on-call and respond to after-hours issues
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs without assistance and up to 140 lbs with help
Work Environment
  • Frequently exposed to non-office environments (hot, cold, dusty conditions)
  • Work may involve climbing, crawling, bending, and lifting throughout the day
  • Loud job site environments may occur depending on work location
Schedule
  • Full-time, Monday to Friday
  • Hours range from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM
  • Occasional evening or weekend work required
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 6+ years of experience in facility maintenance, general handyman work, or a related field
