Job description

PURPOSE:
A Commercial Construction Carpenter/Laborer plays a vitalrole in the construction industry, contributing to the creation of variouscommercial structures such as office buildings, retail spaces, warehouses, andmore. This position involves a combination of skilled carpentry work andgeneral labor tasks to ensure the successful completion of constructionprojects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Carpentry Work:
- Perform precision carpentry tasks, including framing, installing doorsand windows, cabinetry, and
finishing work.
- Accurately measure, cut, and shape materials, such as wood, metal, andplastic, using appropriate
tools.
- Construct and repair wooden structures, such as formwork, scaffolding,and building frameworks.
- Ensure compliance with blueprints, specifications, and building codes.
2. General Labor:
- Assist in the setup and teardown of construction sites, including theassembly and disassembly of
scaffolding and safety barriers.
- Load and unload construction materials and tools.
- Assist with concrete pouring and reinforcement, as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
3. Tool Operation:
- Operate various hand and power tools, such as saws, drills, nail guns,and measuring instruments,
safely and efficiently.
- Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure they arein good working condition.
4. Safety Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to minimize workplaceaccidents and hazards.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, including hardhats, gloves, safety glasses, and
ear protection.
- Identify and report potential safety issues to supervisors.
5. Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with other construction professionals, includingcarpenters, contractors, and project
managers, to achieve project goals.
- Follow instructions from supervisors and assist in coordinating taskswith team members.
6. Quality Assurance:
- Maintain high-quality work standards to ensure the integrity anddurability of the constructed
structures.
- Address any defects or issues promptly and effectively.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Proficiency in using carpentrytools and equipment.
