Job description

Cargo Dangerous Goods- Import Export Agent

I.K. Hofmann is looking for an immediate long-term contract opening for a Cargo Dangerous Goods- Import/Export Agent in Los Angeles, CA for a Cargo facility. We are looking for ambitious and detail-oriented individuals to perform faced paced warehouse cargo work, under supervision. They need to be flexible to work different shifts.


The Cargo Dangerous Goods-Import/Export Agent Pay Range Starting at $32.65


The Cargo Dangerous Goods- Import Export Agent Responsibilities:

  • Processes export and import inquires as per client requirements and procedures such asprocessing of discrepancies at acceptance
  • Double-check dangerous goods (esp. lithium batteries): verify labels/markings, review airway bills, complete paper/electronic records.
  • Confirm dangerous goods handling qualifications for transit shipments
  • Prioritize and process temperature-controlled pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, and other special cargo; coordinate build-up with tarpaulins; maintain photo documentation.
  • Collect and relay information on shipments refused by the Airlines.
  • Assist with printing/updating shipment documents.
  • Preparation and finalization of outbound flights/trucks
  • handling of import documentation (delivery, transfer and abandoned shipment)
  • Processes all Air Waybills and HAWBs and ensures accurate data capture as per client’s requirements and procedures
  • Handles Special Cargo
  • Performs Service Recovery activities (i.e. tracing, warehouse checks, offloads)
  • Performs Airmail Handling
  • Fully supports the quality standards
  • Works according to documented CHM and GOM procedures
  • Observes and applies the security requirements of the client and local authorities
  • Contacts customers, inform them of any/all irregularities
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with employees to give instructions. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned based on business needs.

Requirements.

Education: GED/High School desired Experience

This position requires the ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Minimum of one (1) year of experience in cargo dangerous goods handling, import/export operations, or a related field. IATA Dangerous Goods certification preferred.


Work Environment:

Office Setting- Working with others. They often share the same workspace


Job Essential Functions:

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75%-100% of the time (8-12.5-hour shifts).
  • The person in this position must occasionally move about inside the office and/or warehouse to access invoices, office machinery, etc.
  • The position requires constantly operating a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a computer, calculator, copier, and printer.
  • Occasionally moves documents from the office to the warehouse weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Constantly positions oneself to maintain computers in the office, including under the desks and in the server closet.

Hours:

Must be able to have an open schedule due to shift hours ranging (Employee will be provided with a schedule 1-2 weeks in advance).
