Role Description

Gulf Atlantic Claims Service (GACS) is seeking an experienced Liability Adjuster / Investigator to join our team. Our preference is for an in-office employee based in Ocala, Florida; however, remote candidates will be considered for the right individual.

This full-time position is responsible for investigating, evaluating, and managing commercial auto, trucking, transportation, cargo, premises, and general liability claims on behalf of insurance carriers throughout the United States.

The Liability Adjuster / Investigator will manage claims from assignment through resolution, including conducting investigations, securing statements, analyzing liability exposure, evaluating damages, identifying coverage concerns, preserving evidence, and preparing detailed carrier-grade reports. This role serves as a critical liaison between insureds, claimants, witnesses, attorneys, law enforcement agencies, carriers, and internal field personnel.

Daily responsibilities include:

• Conducting prompt and thorough investigations of commercial transportation and liability claims

• Taking recorded statements from insureds, claimants, witnesses, and involved parties

• Gathering and analyzing police reports, photographs, scene evidence, video footage, driver logs, maintenance records, and supporting documentation

• Determining liability and comparative negligence based on available facts and evidence

• Identifying potential fraud indicators, coverage concerns, and risk transfer opportunities

• Coordinating scene investigations, inspections, and additional investigative activities as needed

• Evaluating property damage, bodily injury, cargo, and related exposures

• Working closely with carriers, insureds, attorneys, and field personnel to develop claim strategies

• Preparing detailed investigative reports, liability analyses, and settlement recommendations

• Identifying and preserving subrogation opportunities when applicable

• Maintaining diary schedules, claim file integrity, and compliance with carrier service standards

• Providing timely claim updates and exceptional customer service throughout the life of the file

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and investigative skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for uncovering facts and resolving complex claims. Experience handling commercial transportation, trucking, cargo, or liability claims is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience handling liability, commercial auto, transportation, trucking, cargo, bodily injury, or general liability claims

• Demonstrated experience conducting investigations, recorded statements, liability analysis, and settlement negotiations

• Strong understanding of insurance claims handling principles, policy interpretation, coverage analysis, and claim documentation requirements

• Experience investigating accidents involving commercial vehicles, heavy equipment, transportation operations, or cargo losses preferred

• Ability to analyze facts, evidence, witness statements, photographs, police reports, and supporting documentation to make sound liability determinations

• Strong written communication skills with the ability to prepare clear, concise, and defensible carrier-grade reports

• Excellent negotiation, interviewing, and customer service skills

• Ability to manage multiple claim files and competing priorities while consistently meeting carrier deadlines

• Proficiency with claims management systems, Microsoft Office, virtual meeting platforms, and investigative technology tools

• Florida All-Lines Adjuster License preferred or the ability to obtain required licensing

• Strong attention to detail, initiative, professionalism, and critical thinking abilities

Compensation & Benefits

• Competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications - $28.00 - $38.00 per hour, depending on experience
