What is a cargo assistant?

Cargo Assistants are professionals who help facilitate the movement, handling, and documentation of cargo shipments, typically at airports, shipping ports, or logistics warehouses. They are responsible for coordinating the receiving, storage, and dispatch of goods, ensuring all shipments are properly labeled, recorded, and tracked. Cargo Assistants also assist with loading and unloading cargo, checking for damage, and verifying that all paperwork complies with regulations. Their role is vital for maintaining efficient and secure cargo operations.

How does a cargo assistant typically collaborate with other teams at an airport or logistics hub?

Cargo Assistants work closely with various teams such as warehouse staff, freight forwarders, customs agents, and airline representatives to ensure the smooth movement of goods. Effective communication and teamwork are crucial, as delays or errors can impact flight timetables and customer satisfaction. This role often requires quick problem-solving and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
