Description The Assistant Director will fill an essential, multi-faceted role in developing and carrying out the vision, strategic direction, and growth of the Career Development Center. This position functions as a key leader in the Student Success Center/Career Development Center unit, supervising multiple Career Coaches and leading projects and initiatives that drive individual student success, in turn advancing institutional goals of retention, inclusion, and access. Examples of Duties STRATEGIC PLANNING, REPORTING, AND ASSESSMENT: Implement effective data collection, analysis, and reporting systems that demonstrate career-related outcomes and inform strategic decision-making.
Develop, execute, and summarize surveys as a means to evaluate satisfaction with Loyola Career Development Center education programming and services. Maintain and apply a comprehensive understanding of Career Services policies, procedures, programs, and activities to support effective operations and service delivery. CAREER COACHING & PROGRAMMING OVERSIGHT: Develop and execute strategic goals for enhancing career development and experiential learning opportunities.
Provide individual and group career coaching to an assigned population of Loyola students to include career exploration, resume preparation and development, professional correspondence, job and internship search strategy, interviewing skills, personal branding, etc. Develop and implement unique career education programming for undergraduate and appropriate graduate student populations with special emphasis on meeting the career development needs and interest of students. Administer and interpret career-related assessment instruments as it relates to student career readiness.
SUPERVISION: Supervise two (2) career coach staff members acting as initial act as their first point of contact for recruiting, monitor student engagement and marketing efforts, and troubleshoot as required. Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with supervisees to review projects and deadlines, provide coaching and ideation, and analyze data for reporting. Facilitate monthly career coaching meeting with Career Coaches.
Oversee goal setting and functional area strategic planning for career coaching initiatives. Responsible for the supervision of the Career Development Center student employees, including one peer leader. COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & COMMUNICATIONS: Actively participate in local, state, regional, and national organizations, seeking leadership positions and opportunities to present to enhance external relationships.
Create communication streams with Loyola students, faculty and college partners to ensure they understand the career programming opportunities, corporate programming events, and career services speakers and special events. Create partnerships with academic departments and schools/colleges to provide career services and programs related to academic majors. Increasing awareness and utilization of career resources and supporting career development initiatives.
Assist in creating newsletters and marketing materials to promote services and programs of the Career Development Center. Develop and execute strategic goals to enhance career development and experiential learning opportunities through proactive employer engagement. In close collaboration with the Employer Relations Coordinator, expand and strengthen partnerships with organizations while also independently cultivating new employer relationships.
Consult with employers to understand immediate and future hiring needs in order to source jobs and internships and effectively connect opportunities with appropriate student populations. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in the day-to-day operation of the Career Development Center. Participate in appropriate professional development activities.
Additionally, some evening and weekend work is required, and the individual will perform other office, divisional and University duties as assigned. Typical Qualifications Minimum Masters Degree from an accredited institution. Minimum 2 years of student advising, career coaching, or employer relations.
Knowledge of career development and student development theory and practice. Demonstrated experience providing career guidance or advising for undergraduate students in a college/university setting. Knowledge in the use of career assessment tools; creativity, ability to assume responsibility, takes initiative and motivates others.
Proven ability to design and present programs/workshops. Well-developed organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects; excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills; strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated program development and management experience Ability to work effectively with students, alumni, faculty and employers; familiarity with the unique career development needs of students from a liberal arts background Ability to teach and to instruct in the use of programs, services and resources in a career-related environment Proficient computer and web-based skills including use of social media as a career development tool Related university or professional experience Physical Requirements Ability to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodations.
In accordance with the Campus Security Act as amended, Loyola University publishes annually and distributes to members of the academic community, and upon request to prospective (students/employees), an annual security report. That report includes current policies and procedures of the University Police Department for the reporting of campus crimes, notifying the campus community of occurrence of campus crimes, policies regarding access to campus buildings, the enforcement authority of the University Police Officers and their relationship to local police. University policies on the possession, use and sale of alcohol and illegal drugs are outlined.
The Campus sexual Assault Program and policy is described. Campus crime statistics as defined under this law for the last three calendar years are included. A copy of this report may be secured from the (Office of Admissions), (Office of Human Resources), or from the University Police Department.
