Job description

What Manufacturing Engineering contributes to Cardinal Health
Engineering is responsible for performing research and analyses to develop design options for components, products, systems and processes.
Manufacturing Engineering is responsible for developing manufacturing processes, production floor layouts and associated tools. Reviews new designs for manufacturability. Designs process improvements to reduce product cost, process cycle time and improved product quality.

Job Summary
The Supervisor, Manufacturing Engineering works cooperatively with operations to help make informed decisions to maximize machine reliability and process optimization along with analyzing manufacturing issues. This role is responsible for manufacturing and process engineering for Sustainable Technologies site.  The role will be accountable to manage manufacturing processes and change projects.  This role will also provide technical support to manufacturing equipment and processes by interacting with production and maintenance to identify, diagnose, and correct process problems in addition to being accountable for operations escalations level III. 

Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead the Manufacturing Engineering and Maintenance teams, including supervision of Maintenance Technicians, timecard approvals, and PTO management.

  • Provide hands-on troubleshooting and escalation support for equipment, maintenance, and process-related issues; ensure timely completion of preventive maintenance (PMs).

  • Develop, implement, and lead process improvement and capital projects as both a team lead and contributing member.

  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes, production floor layouts, and associated tooling to improve safety, quality, cost, and delivery.

  • Design and implement process improvements to reduce product cost, improve product quality, and shorten cycle times.

  • Review new product designs for manufacturability and support new material and process introductions.

  • Write protocols and perform validations for new and improved materials, equipment, and processes.

  • Generate, maintain, and ensure compliance of Quality System documentation in accordance with FDA, ISO, and EN requirements.

  • Support production teams by resolving process, material, and quality issues across manufacturing departments.

  • Drive plant cost-reduction and continuous improvement initiatives using tools such as FMEA, DOE, process capability analysis, Gage R&R, and OEE tracking.

  • Monitor Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and lead continuous improvement activities to enhance operational performance.

  • Manage multiple priorities simultaneously and consistently meet deadlines.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred

  • 3–8 years of relevant manufacturing or engineering experience, preferred

  • Experience with process controls, PLCs, equipment design, and AutoCAD, preferred

  • Six Sigma training or certification, preferred

  • Strong project management skills with experience leading cross-functional teams

  • Strong problem-solving, root cause analysis, and decision-making skills
