Job description

Nurse Practitioner

An experienced and compassionate Nurse Practitioner with cardiac or cardiovascular surgery expertise and ICU patient management skills is sought to join a patient-centered team. The Nurse Practitioner will provide advanced clinical care for cardiothoracic surgery patients, focusing on compassionate, patient-first care. Responsibilities include assisting in cardiac surgeries, managing ICU and cardiovascular surgical patient care, rounding, and evaluating patients. Participation in two full-day clinics weekly and seeing additional patients as needed is required. The role includes rotating through operating room coverage Monday through Friday. The Nurse Practitioner will collaborate closely with surgeons, physicians, intensivists, and healthcare professionals in a multidisciplinary environment. They will order, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and diagnostic tests. Developing and implementing appropriate plans of care and follow-up based on patient outcomes will be necessary. The position requires ordering medications and writing prescriptions in compliance with regulatory policies. Performing bedside procedures as appropriate to the patient population is expected. Maintaining high-quality, timely documentation of all care delivered is crucial. The Nurse Practitioner will demonstrate expert clinical judgment and function independently under physician supervision. Continued medical education is expected to meet state and national registry requirements. Adaptability in a high-stress, dynamic clinical setting is essential, along with flexibility, teamwork, problem-solving skills, and a positive cultural fit.
