Job Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care RN experience within the last 3 years in the cardiac stepdown or related specialty
  • Current Wisconsin RN license or compact RN license
  • Active BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA
  • Telemetry testing required prior to start with strict pass/fail criteria
  • Experience with telemetry oncology, cardiac, PCU/DOU/IMC, or stepdown patients
  • Vent and transplant experience required
  • ICU, IMC, or surgical post-op experience required
  • Strong Epic charting experience preferred
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and float when needed
  • Experience with adult and geriatric patient populations
Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality nursing care to thoracic surgery, cardiac stepdown, and intermediate care patients
  • Care for patients recovering from procedures such as esophagectomies, lobectomies, decortications, wedge resections, and cardiac surgery
  • Monitor telemetry, interpret dysrhythmias, and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition
  • Manage chest tubes, central lines, arterial lines, ports, IVs, and other complex patient care needs
  • Administer and titrate medications and drips according to unit protocols
  • Support respiratory care needs including BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, oxygen therapy, and non-invasive airway management
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver safe, compassionate, patient-centered care
  • Assist with procedures such as chest tube insertion and maintain strong clinical vigilance on the unit
  • Float to related units as needed and contribute to a flexible, team-based care environment
