At Carbon Performance, we’re redefining what group fitness looks like by combining elite coaching, science-backed programming, and an unmatched member experience. We believe every class should feel like personal coaching in a team environment, where members are challenged, supported, and inspired to perform at their highest level.
We’re looking for passionate, energetic Run Coaches who are excited to build a thriving running community while delivering an exceptional coaching experience every single class.
Position Summary

The Run Coach is responsible for delivering Carbon Performance’s instructor-led Run program through engaging, high-energy treadmill classes and our weekly outdoor Run Club. Coaches will lead members of all fitness levels through structured interval sessions, tempo runs, endurance training, and race-focused programming while creating an environment that is motivating, educational, and inclusive.
This role is about more than leading workouts. It’s about coaching movement, building confidence, creating community, and helping members become stronger, faster, and more resilient runners.
Responsibilities

Class Coaching

  • Deliver high-energy, instructor-led treadmill classes that follow the Carbon Performance Run program.
  • Coach interval training, tempo runs, endurance sessions, and race-specific workouts.
  • Demonstrate excellent cueing, pacing, timing, and coaching presence.
  • Offer modifications and progressions for all fitness and running abilities.
  • Educate members on pacing, running mechanics, breathing, effort levels, and performance.
Community Leadership

  • Lead and grow Carbon Performance’s Saturday Run Club.
  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive running community.
  • Build relationships with members inside and outside of class.
  • Encourage accountability, consistency, and long-term progress.
Member Experience

  • Create an exceptional experience from the moment members walk into class until they leave.
  • Learn members’ names and celebrate milestones and achievements.
  • Maintain an energetic, positive, and encouraging coaching style.
  • Represent the Carbon Performance brand both inside and outside the studio.
Operational Excellence

  • Arrive prepared and on time for every class.
  • Follow Carbon Performance programming exactly as written.
  • Ensure all equipment and treadmills are clean, safe, and ready before class.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and uphold all Carbon Performance coaching standards.
  • Participate in coach education, team meetings, and ongoing development opportunities.
Qualifications

Required

  • Passion for running, health, and fitness.
  • Strong personal running experience.
  • Ability to coach groups with confidence and enthusiasm.
  • Excellent communication and motivational skills.
  • Ability to build relationships and create an outstanding member experience.
  • CPR/AED Certification (or ability to obtain prior to employment).
  • Availability to coach early mornings, evenings, and Saturdays.
Preferred

  • Running coach certification (RRCA, UESCA, VDOT, or equivalent).
  • Previous experience coaching running or endurance athletes.
  • Previous group fitness coaching experience.
  • Experience preparing athletes for 5Ks, 10Ks, half marathons, or marathons.
  • Knowledge of running mechanics, pacing strategies, heart rate training, and performance programming.
What Makes a Great Carbon Performance Run Coach?

Our best coaches:
  • Lead with energy, passion, and professionalism.
  • Create an environment where every member feels seen and supported.
  • Coach with purpose rather than simply instructing workouts.
  • Inspire confidence in beginners while challenging experienced runners.
  • Build genuine relationships that keep members coming back.
  • Take pride in delivering the Carbon Performance experience with excellence every class.
Why Join Carbon Performance?

  • Coach alongside an elite team of fitness professionals.
  • Deliver professionally designed programming.
  • Grow your coaching and leadership skills through continued education.
  • Help build one of the fastest-growing running communities in the industry.
  • Make a lasting impact on members’ health, performance, and confidence.
