Job description

Summary of Position
Joins, fabricates and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques. Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the welding field. Will perform duties in compliance with established industry standards and according to company practices.
Essential Functions
  • Set up and operate welding machine to weld metal parts according to work orders, blueprint layouts and verbal instructions.
  • Ensure welds meet standards and specifications
  • Secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straight edge, combination square, calipers and ruler.
  • Tack-welds or welds components and assemblies, using electric, gas, arc, or other welding equipment.
  • Removes rough spots from work piece, using portable grinder, hand file or scraper.
  • Ignites torch and adjusts valves, amperage, or voltage
  • Cleans parts to remove contamination prior to welding.
  • Uses inspection gages such as verniers, scales, micrometers and pin gages.
  • Follows established policies and procedures while working in a safe manner.
  • Determines required equipment and welding method, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.
  • Conduct tests and inspections of products, services or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and determine when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Performs other duties within his/her capabilities as determined and by management.
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Vocational School
  • 5+ years prior Carbide experience required
  • Ability to use basic math skills
  • Ability to read blueprints and tape measure
  • Must be willing to submit to and pass, a pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Must have valid driver's license with a clear driving record.
