Job description

The Opportunity

Kapsons is partnering with a Fortune 1000 industry leader and one of the largest providers of commercial landscaping services in the United States to hire an experienced Business Developer.

This is a field-based, consultative B2B sales role focused on developing new customer relationships, building a strong sales pipeline, and closing profitable commercial landscape service contracts. The Business Developer will own the full sales cycle—from prospecting and relationship development through proposals, negotiations, and close.

The ideal candidate is a driven, relationship-oriented sales professional who understands how to identify customer challenges, develop solutions, and build long-term relationships with key decision-makers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop new business opportunities within an assigned territory through proactive prospecting, networking, referrals, and relationship building.
  • Manage the complete sales cycle from initial prospecting through contract negotiation and close.
  • Identify prospective customers' operational challenges and "pain points" and develop customized, value-based solutions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key decision-makers and influencers at prospective and existing customers.
  • Conduct face-to-face meetings, presentations, virtual demonstrations, and proposal discussions.
  • Maintain a healthy pipeline and accurately forecast sales activity, opportunities, and expected results.
  • Consistently achieve established revenue, sales, and activity targets.
  • Partner with operations, finance, marketing, and other internal teams to develop competitive proposals and responses to RFPs/bids.
  • Utilize consultative and solution-based selling techniques to demonstrate the value of commercial landscape services.
  • Maintain accurate and timely sales activity, pipeline, and opportunity information within Salesforce CRM.
  • Develop strong knowledge of the local market, competitive landscape, and prospective customer base.
  • Operate independently with a strong sense of urgency and accountability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • 5+ years of successful B2B sales experience, preferably selling to mid- and senior-level decision-makers.
  • Demonstrated track record of achieving or exceeding sales goals.
  • Strong experience with prospecting, pipeline development, presentations, proposal development, and contract negotiations.
  • Experience managing a large geographic territory and multiple opportunities simultaneously.
  • Commercial landscaping, facility services, property services, construction, environmental services, or other commercial contract/service sales experience is highly desirable.
  • Established relationships and market knowledge within relevant local customer segments are preferred.
  • Experience utilizing a CRM/SFA platform; Salesforce experience is a plus.
  • Strong presentation, negotiation, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Competitive, self-motivated, results-oriented, and comfortable working independently.
  • Ability to develop trusted relationships with customers and internal business partners.

Physical Demands & Requirements

  • Regular operation of computers and other office and sales equipment, including laptops, mobile phones, and sales software/tools.
  • The position involves a combination of mobile and sedentary work and requires the ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • The role regularly requires spending more than half of the working time away from company locations, meeting prospective customers, selling services, and obtaining orders or contracts.
  • Ability to travel by car, train, and plane as required.
  • Ability to traverse uneven terrain and walk active jobsites with customers and branch teams for periods of up to four hours.
  • Ability to maintain possession of any required personal medications needed to address known allergic reactions should they occur.

Work Environment

This is a field-based sales position combining customer meetings, jobsite visits, prospecting, networking, and office-based activities. The Business Developer will spend a significant portion of their time in the market meeting prospective customers and developing new business.

Travel throughout the assigned territory is required, with occasional additional travel as business needs dictate.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is an opportunity to join a Fortune 1000 industry leader with significant market presence, an established service platform, and the resources to support successful sales professionals.

For a proven Business Developer, the role provides the opportunity to own a territory, build long-term customer relationships, develop a substantial book of business, and directly impact revenue growth.
