Responsibilities 

The Driver Courier is a permanent, full-time position supporting the overall mission of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) by facilitating the operations of a local Field Office.  As a Driver Courier, your responsibilities would include:

  • Driving trucks, vans, or other type government vehicles to deliver messages, documents, packages, and mail to various Government agencies and business concerns,
  • Transporting office personnel and performing miscellaneous errands such as carrying mail to and from the post office and sorting or opening incoming and outgoing mail,
  • Obtaining receipts for articles delivered and keep a log of items received and delivered,
  • Ensuring that materials are delivered to location designated by instructions and follow all additional written instructions associated with the delivery of the materials,
  • Assisting with office file work (maintenance, scanning, shelving, auditing) work when not working a delivery route,
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Physical Requirements 

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust/Suitability Clearance under the Department of Homeland Security from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services
  • Ability to read and understand proficiently in English
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 45 lbs. or more in a physical environment
  • Ability to perform tasks while bending, stooping, climbing, and reaching
