Job description

USED CAR MANAGER

Department: Sales

Reports to: General Sales Manager

Job Summary: The Used Car Manager oversees the used car inventory, acquires used vehicles for the dealership and establishes pricing based on market conditions and dealership goals.

Salary Range:  $72,000 to $120,000

Core Responsibilities:

  •  Maintain used car inventory; manage physical and online inventory 
  •  Meet monthly forecast for used car sales volume sustaining sufficient gross to meet profit objectives.
  •  Appraise all incoming used vehicles; ensure that cosmetic and mechanical reconditioning is performed within the dealership’s cost and time limitations
  •  Keep informed of auto auction activity and prices; attend auctions on a regular basis
  •  Establish processes and controls wholesaling activities
  •  Enhance customer satisfaction during the entire purchase experience
  •  Communicate daily with sales management team regarding anything relevant to used car targets and inventory
  •  Know and understand the federal, state and local laws which govern retail automotive sale
  •  Other duties as assigned 

Job Requirements:

  •  2+ years of Automotive Sales Management experience (USED CAR MANAGEMENT PREFERRED)
  •  Ability to work independently and be self-motivated
  •  Knowledge of the local market and auctions
  •  Excellent customer service and communication skills
  •  Professional appearance and work ethic
  •  Ability to work well in a process driven environment
  •  Clean driver’s license and must be insurable through liability insurance company Physical Demands
  • Must be able to remain in stationary position 80%
