Job description

The Supervisor of Security is responsible for the supervision, administration, and day-to-day management of security operations at assigned client locations. This position provides direct leadership and oversight to security officers and is responsible for ensuring that security personnel perform their duties in accordance with company policies, client requirements, post orders, and applicable laws and regulations.


The Supervisor of Security serves in a leadership and administrative capacity and is responsible for personnel supervision, scheduling, training, performance management, incident response, documentation, client communication, and enforcement of security procedures.


This position requires sound judgment, professionalism, strong leadership skills, and the ability to independently address personnel and operational issues while maintaining a safe and secure environment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise security officers assigned to designated client locations.
  • Provide daily leadership, direction, and operational oversight to security personnel.
  • Assign duties, posts, patrol responsibilities, and other work activities.
  • Monitor employee attendance, punctuality, appearance, conduct, and job performance.
  • Ensure officers understand and properly perform their assigned responsibilities.
  • Conduct supervisory inspections of security posts and personnel.
  • Provide coaching, counseling, and corrective direction when performance or conduct does not meet established standards.
  • Document employee performance issues and recommend disciplinary action when appropriate.
  • Participate in employee performance evaluations and provide recommendations regarding continued assignment, promotion, reassignment, or removal from a client location.


Scheduling and Staffing Administration

  • Prepare, maintain, and adjust security schedules to ensure proper staffing and coverage.
  • Coordinate coverage for employee absences, vacations, call-outs, emergencies, and open positions.
  • Monitor staffing levels and work with management to prevent uncovered posts.
  • Review employee timekeeping information for accuracy and report discrepancies.
  • Assist with controlling unnecessary overtime while maintaining required security coverage.
  • Communicate schedule changes and staffing requirements to security personnel and management.


Training and Employee Development

  • Assist with the orientation and onboarding of newly assigned security officers.
  • Conduct site-specific training and ensure officers understand post orders, emergency procedures, client expectations, and company policies.
  • Provide ongoing instruction and refresher training as necessary.
  • Identify employee training needs and recommend additional training or development.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of training and supervisory instruction.


Security Operations

  • Oversee daily security operations at assigned locations.
  • Ensure security officers follow established post orders, access-control procedures, patrol requirements, visitor procedures, and emergency protocols.
  • Review security logs, patrol reports, incident reports, and other required documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Respond to security incidents and provide supervisory direction during emergencies.
  • Coordinate appropriate responses to accidents, disturbances, unauthorized access, suspicious activity, property damage, safety concerns, and other security-related incidents.
  • Ensure significant incidents are immediately reported to appropriate company and client representatives.
  • Conduct follow-up reviews of security incidents and recommend corrective or preventive measures when appropriate.


Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate supervisory records relating to staffing, scheduling, attendance, training, incidents, employee performance, and security operations.
  • Prepare written reports, correspondence, incident summaries, and other administrative documentation as required.
  • Review reports prepared by security officers and ensure documentation meets professional and company standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee, client, security, and company information.
  • Assist management with investigations involving security incidents, employee conduct, policy violations, or client concerns.
  • Participate in supervisory and management meetings as required.
  • Assist in developing, reviewing, and implementing security procedures and site-specific post orders.


Client Relations

  • Serve as a primary supervisory contact between security personnel, Workforce Capital Security management, and designated client representatives.
  • Maintain professional communication with client management regarding security operations, staffing, incidents, and service needs.
  • Address routine client concerns and promptly communicate significant issues to senior management.
  • Monitor security services to ensure they meet contractual requirements and client expectations.
  • Recommend operational improvements designed to strengthen security, efficiency, professionalism, and client satisfaction.


Policy and Compliance

  • Enforce company policies, client policies, post orders, and established security procedures.
  • Ensure security personnel maintain required licenses, certifications, training, and qualifications.
  • Promote compliance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements governing security operations.
  • Maintain professional standards of conduct and ensure assigned personnel represent Workforce Capital Security appropriately.


Supervisory Authority

The Supervisor of Security exercises direct supervisory responsibility over assigned security personnel.


Supervisory responsibilities may include:

  • Assigning and directing daily work.
  • Preparing and modifying employee schedules.
  • Monitoring and evaluating employee performance.
  • Providing employee coaching and counseling.
  • Documenting performance and disciplinary matters.
  • Recommending corrective or disciplinary action.
  • Participating in interviewing, selection, onboarding, and training of security personnel.
  • Recommending reassignment or removal of personnel when appropriate.
  • Responding to employee complaints and operational concerns.
  • Exercising independent judgment when addressing routine security and personnel matters.
  • Escalating significant personnel, client, or security matters to senior management.


Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or professional training in security management, criminal justice, business administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Prior experience in security operations, law enforcement, military security, loss prevention, or a related field preferred.
  • Prior supervisory, management, or administrative experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to supervise and direct security personnel effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare professional reports and maintain accurate administrative records.
  • Strong organizational, scheduling, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in routine and emergency situations.
  • Ability to interact professionally with employees, clients, visitors, vendors, law enforcement, and members of management.
  • Working knowledge of computers, email, electronic reporting systems, scheduling systems, and standard office applications.
  • Must meet all applicable licensing, background, training, and eligibility requirements for the position.
