Job description
From the beginning, Starbucks set out to be a different kind of company. One that not only celebrated coffee and the rich tradition, but that also brought a feeling of connection. We are known for developing extraordinary leaders who share this passion and are guided by their service to others.
This role contributes to organizational success by owning the capital planning and portfolio management function for the enterprise capital program. The Engineering Program Manager, Capital Planning and Portfolio Management delivers five core functions: Capital System Management - administering the systems, workflows, standards and governance that run the capital process end to end; Capital Portfolio Management - building and maintaining the annual and multi-year capital plan, prioritizing and phasing investments, and reallocating funding as business conditions change; Investment Business Case - partnering with stakeholders and Finance to develop and validate the business case for each investment; Enterprise Stage Gating - applying the Enterprise Stage Gate Process in partnership with the PMO so that projects advance on consistent readiness criteria; and Reporting - producing the spend, forecast and performance visibility that leadership, Finance and project teams rely on to make investment decisions. The role operates across the Global Supply Chain manufacturing and distribution network and serves as the single point of accountability for capital portfolio data integrity. This position models and acts in accordance with the company's guiding principles.
As an engineering program manager, Capital Planning and Portfolio Management, you will...

• Capital Portfolio Management: develops and maintains the annual and multi-year (3-5 year) capital plan, consolidating business unit requests into a prioritized, phased and funded portfolio aligned with strategic objectives.
• Investment Business Case: partners with project sponsors, engineering and Finance to prepare and validate business cases and investment justification, including cost estimates, benefit assumptions, alternatives considered and risk.
• Enterprise Stage Gating: coordinates with the PMO and project managers on project status and gate readiness in accordance with the Enterprise Stage Gate Process and Front-End Loading (FEL) methodologies.

- Proven leadership of cross-functional teams and partnership with Finance on capital budgets and forecasts
- Advanced project management skills (e.g., PMP certification preferred; PfMP a plus)
- Expertise in capital portfolio management, stage-gate governance and FEL methodologies
