Job description

Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital Cape Cod (SCC) is a 60-bed inpatient rehabilitation facility located in Sandwich, Massachusetts. Part of the renowned Spaulding Rehabilitation and Mass General Brigham system, SCC provides interdisciplinary, high-acuity rehabilitative care for patients recovering from stroke, orthopedic surgeries, trauma, amputation, and other complex conditions. We are committed to helping patients regain strength, independence, and quality of life through compassionate, team-based care.

Position Summary

Spaulding Cape Cod and it's Spaulding Rehabilitation Associates of the Massachusetts General Physician Organization is seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Internal Medicine Physician to join our inpatient rehabilitation team. This is a community-based, non-academic role focused on direct patient care in a collaborative, mission-driven environment. The internist will serve as the attending physician, working closely with physiatrists, therapists, nurses, and case managers to support the medical needs of patients throughout their rehabilitation stay.

Key Responsibilities

    • Serve as the attending physician for 12-16 medically complex inpatient rehabilitation patients
    • Provide comprehensive medical management including daily rounding, admission H&Ps, progress notes, and discharge summaries
    • Average 1 admission per day (maximum of 2)
    • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to support care planning and discharge readiness
    • Respond to Rapid Response Team activations and medical codes as needed
    • Participate in the call rotation, including weekends (typically 1:8)
    • Attend staff meetings and engage in hospital administrative activities as assigned
    • Optional opportunity to receive training in rehabilitation medicine

Schedule

    • Monday-Friday, approximately 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM

Qualifications

    • MD or DO with Board Certification/Eligibility in Internal Medicine
    • Eligible for licensure in Massachusetts
    • Inpatient or hospitalist experience preferred
    • Interest in rehabilitation care or working in an interdisciplinary setting
    • Strong communication, clinical judgment, and team collaboration skills
