Job description

The Broome County Arts Council (BCAC) is seeking an organized, people-centered professional to serve as its Marketing & Communications Coordinator. This role supports BCAC’s storytelling, branding, and public-facing communications, including focuses on the campaign of BCAC’s annual fundraiser, the United Cultural Fund, and other organizational branding and marketing. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys creative-strategic planning, marketing strategy, visual communication to connect with artists, businesses, donors, and audiences to the arts. The Marketing & Communications Coordinator plays a vital role in advancing BCAC’s visibility, sustainability, and impact throughout Broome County. The position reports to the Executive Director and works closely with BCAC staff, Board members, artists, vendors, sponsors, and community partners. 


Position Overview

The Marketing & Communications Coordinator leads BCAC's storytelling, branding, and public-facing communications. This role suits a creative, strategic communicator who enjoys amplifying community impact and building a strong public presence for a mission-driven organization.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Write and edit content for the website, press releases, and promotional materials; provide content and creative direction for the weekly e-newsletter (compiled and distributed by the Editorial & Programs Coordinator)
  • Coordinate marketing for BCAC programs, grants, events, and initiatives
  • Maintain consistent branding across all communications
  • Generate marketing materials in both print and digital formats, including formats optimized for BCAC's platforms (WordPress, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn)
  • Design and maintain the look, layout, and visual branding of website pages for select programs, ensuring consistency with BCAC's overall brand
  • Support donor and sponsor recognition across all communications channels, ensuring funders and supporters are acknowledged appropriately and visibly in print, digital, and event materials
  • Collaborate with the Development team to align marketing efforts with fundraising campaigns and donor stewardship goals
  • Track analytics and report on audience engagement and campaign performance
  • Collaborate with staff, artists, and partner organizations on promotion and outreach
  • Support the implementation of BCAC's communications and marketing strategy
  • Manage social media platforms, content calendar, and audience engagement 


Qualifications

  • Marketing Portfolio required
  • Experience in communications, marketing, or digital media (nonprofit or arts experience a plus)
  • Strong writing, editing, and visual storytelling skills
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, email marketing tools, and content management systems
  • Proven ability to coordinate, track, and market multiple programs simultaneously
  • Creative mindset with strong attention to detail
  • Passion for arts advocacy and community engagement 


Desired Qualifications

  • Graphic design or basic video editing skills
  • Media relations or press outreach experience

Hours: Starting at 18 hours per week, with the potential to grow

Pay Rate: $17 per hour, dependent on experience

Location: In person with FlexOptions (Broome County, NY)

Reports to: Executive Director
