About the Role:
The primary function of a Canning Craftsman is to participate on the canning line through different tasks that may include inserting liners or bare root into containers, firming down the soil, moving the containers with the new canning from the conveyor belt to a trailer, as well as performing quality checks.
Employment Status: Employment is full-time, seasonal for approximately 4 to 5 months, with the possibility of year-round employment.
Shift: 6:00 AM-2:30 PM, Hours are subject to change based off business needs
Compensation: $16.90 Per Hour
Description:
We are seeking individuals who are detailed, accurate, enjoy working outdoors and in a team environment to work on our canning team. On this team you will play a critical role to ensure our plants have the room they need to grow beautifully and to our quality standards by performing various tasks.
What You’ll Do
You’ll be involved in various duties on the canning team that may include:
  • Removing large quantities of plants from their current container, loosening the roots to give them room to grow, and potting them into larger containers while paying close attention to Monrovia’s quality standards.
  • Utilizing quality measuring and monitoring tools.
  • Ensuring plants are centered in the container, adding additional soil if necessary, and compacting the soil to remove any air pockets.   
  • Ensuring the soil bin is filled as necessary so that the machine can continue to operate continuously.
  • Ensuring the machine is properly loading containers upright and filling them as necessary with the soil. 
  • Separating containers so that they may easily be accessed by other members of the team.
  • Moving the finished plants from the conveyor belt to a trailer as necessary.
  • Driving a tractor with up to three trailers to their designated growing area and unloading them into their proper location on the Nursery.
  • Ensuring the work area is clean and clear of any tripping or safety hazards.
  • Adhering to all safety policies and procedures and worker protection standards.
  • Performing other related duties to benefit the mission of the company as assigned.
