Job description

Sign-on Bonus: This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $1,500. 

Job purpose

The Level I maintenance technician is responsible for performing assigned preventive maintenance tasks and attending to all equipment calls in the production plant. This includes on-site repairs and/or repairs that require a work order. This position is responsible for complying with all employee safety requirements, food safety, facility audits, and GMP at all times.


Duties and responsibilities

  • Performs regular maintenance (PM) service/duties as scheduled by the Maintenance Manager 
  • Maintains manufacturing assets and facilities as assigned (lubrication, monitoring, filter controls)
  • Supports ongoing staff training and development 
  • Reporting of departures during the shift and at the end of the day, on the maintenance work performed
  • Follow all food safety guidelines and protocols while servicing equipment
  • Model the company's safety culture and always strive for 100% safety compliance.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule – other shifts, weekends, holidays as needed


Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a maintenance technician position and activities 
  • Must be able to read English and follow the instructions in the equipment manual 
  • Must possess a solid understanding of manufacturing equipment (mechanical and electrical) 
  • Previous experience in the Food Industry, a plus 
  • OSHA 10-hour general industry outreach training, preferred (not required)


Experience

  • Excellent communication skills, and respectful of others 
  • Organized, detail orientated, and a can-do, hands-on work ethic
  • Proficient computer skills with EXCEL, WORD; CAD a plus
  • Excellent technical knowledge of equipment, products, and processes 
  • Strong knowledge in Maintenance & Reliability
  • Self-motivated, results orientated, and excellent personal skills 
  • Ability to perform Tech Level-I tasks
  • Knowledge in utilizing a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) a plus
  • Strong background in HACCP, Safety, GMPs, and regulatory Food Safety Audits


Working conditions

  • Must be able to work any and all shifts as directed.
  • Must be able to work overtime as necessary, including holidays and weekends.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Must be an avid Safety Champion and adhere to all safety programs and procedures.


Physical requirements

  • Must wear non-slip, safety-resistant work shoes.
  • Participation in mandatory pre-shift stretches and exercises.
  • Proper use of required PPE, including hairnets, beard nets (if needed), and safety gloves.
  • Must wear all required PPE when working with equipment or chemicals that require personal protection.
  • Physical ability to: stand, sit at a desk, walk around the facility, lift/carry up to 50 lbs unassisted, reach, kneel, crawl, and twist.
  • Must possess the ability to see, hear, and communicate with associates and others using professional etiquette.
