Job description

We are on a mission to grow Second Nature Brands 4x from $500MM to $1+B in the next 2 years through a combination of organic growth (increased distribution, e-commerce, and innovation) and through M&A. We have an opening for a Caramel Cook, who will be an important member of the supply chain team during this growth. This position will be based out of our Sanders Chocolate Factory 23770 Hall Road in Clinton Township, MI 48036.

This role is responsible for the creation of our famous confections.

Regular working hours are Sunday through Thursday, 8:30pm to 5am, with weekday or weekend overtime as needed. The starting rate is $18.00 per hour plus $1.00 shift premium.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Cooking caramel in commercial-sized kettles;
  • Cleaning and sanitizing the cooking equipment
  • Manually transferring warm caramel to tubs for production line;
  • Following recipes to ensure quality of product;
  • Follow all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), Q&FS (Quality & Food Safety), and OSHA Safety policies
  • Maintain clean and safe work area
  • Preform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED;
  • Self-directed.
  • English Language proficient
  • Ability to work well with peers and supervisors;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to keep production lines running efficiently.


Physical Requirements

  • Standing for 8-10 hours;
  • Walking up and down stairs;
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs frequently;
  • Working in slightly elevated temperatures;
  • Wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE) provided by company


Work Environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, you will regularly work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment can be high and employee may be required to wear personal protective equipment. This is an indoor food manufacturing setting.


This position requires the ability to:

  • Frequently walk on stand, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, grasp and reach overhead consistently.
