Position description
Specialist- Noble Lab
The Department of Microbiology & Immunology is now recruiting a Full Specialist. The position duties will include using techniques of molecular biology, cell biology, and biochemistry, the incumbent will engage in research on effectors of virulence and commensalism of the fungal pathobiont, Candida albicans. This research is hoped to lead to a better understanding and treatment of fungal interactions with mammalian hosts, including humans.
Required Qualifications:
  • Full Specialist - terminal degree (or equivalent degree) or ten or more years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Willingness and ability to learn new methods and skills for changing research priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a research team.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, coordinate work tasks with others, and meet multiple deadlines.
  • Candidates must meet the required qualifications at the time of appointment. - - Candidates' CV must state qualifications or if pending upon submission.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Mastery of RNA-seq and scRNA-seq protocols and analysis
  • Mastery of fungal (Candida albicans, Candida auris) strain construction and propagation.
  • Mastery of cell culture and immune cell culture (immortalized cells) and derivation/propagation (from bone marrow), flow cytometry, and cytokine analysis
  • Mastery of mouse models of Candida albicans gut colonization and bloodstream infection
  • Mastery of protein purification and common biochemical manipulations (assays for enzyme activity, co-immunoprecipitation, Western blot, etc.)
  • Mastery of common molecular biology techniques (PCR, qPCR, cloning)
  • Mastery of microscopy, including confocal microscopy, and imaging of live cells and fixed tissues
