Job description

The ASR Group family of companies make up the world's largest refiner and marketer of cane sugar. The companies produce a full line of grocery, industrial, foodservice and specialty sweetener products. Across North America, ASR Group companies operate five sugar refineries, located in California, Maryland, Louisiana, Canada and Mexico. In Europe, ASR Group companies operate sugar refineries in the United Kingdom, Portugal, and, with a joint venture partner, Italy. The companies also farm sugarcane and own sugar mills in Mexico and Belize. The ASR Group portfolio includes the leading brands Domino, C&H, Florida Crystals, Redpath, Tate & Lyle, Lyle's, Sidul and Whitworths.  ASR Group companies also produce and market Tellus, a single-use, compostable tableware and foodservice product made from plant fibers, including sugarcane.

OVERVIEW
The Process Supervisor will direct all activities of the entire refining process of cane sugar including the receipt of liquid materials, ensuring quality standards are met through the efficient use of energy (fuel and steam), water, air, and electric power.

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintains standard production rates while ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory and quality standards
  • Leads assigned teams in the continuous improvement process
  • Achieves results through subordinates in a unionized environment

WORK EXPERIENCES

  • Five years of experience in a chemical processing, pharmaceutical or food manufacturing plant as a process/production supervisor or related experience.
  • Previous experience supervising union personnel.
  • Experience with and demonstrated success in leading operational excellence/continuous improvement efforts.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree is strongly preferred in an engineering, science, or business related field.
  • Concentration in chemical engineering, physics, or related science field is preferred.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

  • Responsible for the supervision of union hourly employees
