Job description

Sandia Presbyterian Church is seeking a new vibrant leader with a heart to lead children to know Jesus through engaging Bible lessons while also creating community among children. This leader needs a combination of leadership skills, creativity and a deep commitment to being a central support of the church by welcoming children and contributing to their spiritual formation.


Key Objectives:

·        Design, implement, and manage the direction of existing and future programs for the purpose of leading our children to be lifelong followers of Jesus Christ.

·        Recruit, develop, and lead teams of adult volunteers and paid childcare workers who will care for and minister to our children.

·        Be an effective communicator, organized, thoughtful, flexible and creative.

·        Work with parents to educate and support them in spiritual education while also being accountable to them for the needs of their families.

·        Know how to relate to and educate children of differing ages and capabilities.

·        Be a team player with the ability to build strong relationships and work well with all staff and with all families. 

Responsibilities:

·        Provide leadership for all children’s ministries programs for children ages birth through 5th Grade.  These programs include Sunday School, Wednesday Fellowship, Children’s Messages, Worship, Childcare,  Outreach and Fellowship. Oversee, implement and continually evaluate the effectiveness of all programs from Early Childhood through Elementary including curriculum and recruiting and training of volunteers.

·        Lead and manage programs and special events including Vacation Bible School, Tween Camp, Trunk or Treat, Parents Night Out, Egg Hunts, Monthly Gatherings for Younger and Older Children. 

·        Oversee the provision of childcare according to the policies and procedures in place. 

·        Design the Children’s Ministry Budget and manage expenses within budget.

·        Plan and implement the chapel time for the weekday preschool on Wednesday Mornings. 

·        Other duties as assigned by Supervisor or Pastor. 

Qualifications

·        Has a heart and passion for children

·        Vibrant faith in Jesus Christ and actively pursues a growing relationship with Him, and a desire to share that faith with children

·        Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is preferred but not required

·        Has three or more years commensurate experience in a related volunteer, education or vocational leadership role.

·        Strong organizational skills as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills.

·        Goal-driven, self motivated, takes initiative and shows ownership of our church and its ministries.

·        Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft programs. 

·        Background check & work experience check required.

Compensation

·        Job includes up to 30 hours per week.

·        Salary:  $38,000 to $46,000 based on experience and education.

·        Support of an experienced Administrative Assistant.
