Job description

The Software Integration Engineer serves on the Product Office team for Product Manager Scalable Hypersonics (PdM SHY). In this role, the engineer oversees contracted software development, complex system-of-systems integration, and software safety/release processes across the SHY portfolio. A primary focus includes leading the complex software integration of the Blackbeard hypersonic missile onto the HIMARS launch platform and subsequently the CAML launcher.

The candidate will drive intense technical coordination with external stakeholders, including PM STORM, the Software, Simulation, Systems and Integration (S3I) directorate, and prime vendors. Additionally, this role provides technical oversight for telemetry/seeker data relays, Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) testing, software safety releases, Urgent Materiel Releases (UMR), and software support for additional SHY efforts (including ASHS, MROM, AHSS, Mach XL, Sirena, and PrSM Inc 4). DUTIES: Platform & Weapon Software Integration: Oversee the technical integration of hypersonic software architectures onto launcher platforms, specifically driving Blackbeard integration onto HIMARS and CAML, as well as supporting integration efforts for ASHS and other SHY portfolio capabilities.

Stakeholder Technical Liaison: Spearhead technical coordination and collaboration with key external stakeholders-including PM STORM, the S3I software development team, government matrix support, and contractor vendors-to align software schedules, requirement baselines, and test objectives. Telemetry & Seeker Data Relays: Provide engineering oversight to ensure seamless, reliable telemetry, guidance, and seeker data relay between munitions and launcher platforms. Release & Airworthiness Management: Drive the planning, technical documentation, and execution necessary to secure Software Safety Releases, Urgent Materiel Releases (UMR), and flight/test safety approvals for test launches and operational fielding.

HWIL & Software Testing Oversight: Guide Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) simulation development, software test plans, test execution, and verification across classified and unclassified environments to validate system readiness. CONOPS & Architecture Alignment: Participate in Concept of Operations (CONOPS) formulation and ensure software architecture, interface control documents (ICDs), and message formats align with overall launcher and missile system requirements. Contractor Delivery & Technical Oversight: Monitor and evaluate contracted software development deliverables, technical milestone progress, and integration risks, ensuring contractor activities support Product Office schedule and technical objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS Required Skills/Experience: Minimum 5-7+ years of software engineering or system-of-systems software integration experience in DoD, Army, or Joint weapon systems. Direct experience in weapon system software integration, fire control interfaces, or launcher platform software execution. Demonstrated ability to lead technical coordination across external stakeholder organizations (e.g., PM offices, S3I/government labs, prime vendors)

Technical familiarity with telemetry systems, seeker data transmission, launcher software architectures, and interface protocols. Experience supporting or driving DoD Software Safety Releases, Urgent Materiel Releases (UMR), or formal safety/airworthiness board processes. Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) environments, software test plan execution, and verification processes.

Excellent technical writing, brief-preparation, and verbal communication skills; ability to brief DoD senior leaders and build consensus among disparate organizations. Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook). Must have a current driver's license.

Travel: 20% Citizenship & Security: Must be a U.S. Citizen. Active DoD Secret clearance required upon hire (TS/SCI eligibility preferred given classified project portfolio)

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field PREFERRED / DESIRED SKILLS: Specific experience with HIMARS, CAML, or related launcher platforms and missile systems. Experience working directly with PM STORM, S3I, PEO Missiles & Space, or RCCTO software environments. Familiarity with hypersonic munition architectures, fire control software, and data link integration.

Background in CONOPS development and system-level interface control documentation (ICDs). #LI-AS1
