Job description

School Security Officer

This School Security Officer position is a front-line school safety role focused on maintaining a secure environment for students, staff, and visitors in a school setting in Rockford, IL.

Location: Rockford, IL

Schedule: Full-Time | Monday-Friday, day shift (primarily)

Pay Rate: $17/hr

Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 21 years old
  • Illinois Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC)
  • 20-hour security training course certifiacte
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
  • Authorization to work in the United States
What You'll Be Doing

Your day would likely include:

  • Patrolling hallways, stairwells, entrances, and school grounds
  • Monitoring visitors and controlling access to the building
  • Watching security cameras and responding to suspicious activity
  • Assisting students, staff, and visitors
  • Reporting incidents and documenting patrols
  • Supporting school administrators during emergencies or disciplinary situations
  • Operating metal detectors and other security equipment when required
