Job description


Essential Functions
  • Follow all maintenance JSA's, lockout/tagout procedures, and SSAB safety policies.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot:
    • Low-voltage control circuits (120/208V).
    • 480V 3-phase distribution and motor control centers.
    • PLC-based control systems (Allen-Bradley, ControlLogix 5000).
    • AC and DC drive systems, soft starters, and VFDs.
    • Instrumentation including load cells, encoders, thermocouples, proximity sensors, and pressure/flow transmitters.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on motors, MCCs, transformers, and switchgear.
  • Install conduit, cable tray, and wiring to NEC standards.
  • Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters, meggers, oscilloscopes, and infrared cameras.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts.
  • Log completed work and equipment data into CMMS.
  • Complete training within the designated timeframes and attend all required meetings.
  • Understand and support the company's goals and values and adhere to company, department, safety, quality, environmental, and ethics policies and procedures.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ year industrial electrical maintenance experience (steel or heavy manufacturing preferred), or 2 years industrial electrical experience plus a degree in electrical or instrumentation technology.
  • PLC troubleshooting/programming experience (Allen-Bradley).
  • Experience with AC/DC drives and motor control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Good communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
  • Committed to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
