CIP Operator


Position Summary

The CIP Operator ensures optimum quality products through completing proper cleanup and sanitation of products following regulatory standards.

Hours

Weekends, overtime and holidays as required

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Driving Company Performance

  • Assemble and disassemble equipment for proper cleaning/sanitizing.
  • Operate the CIP (clean-in-place) system to clean and sanitize equipment, tanks, and pipelines.
  • Complete basic preventive maintenance of gaskets, seals, “O” rings, plates, etc. on all product contact surfaces in accordance with the Master Sanitation Schedule.
  • Complete record-keeping, including, identifying cleaning cycle times on charts, measure cleaning concentration, examine flow rates, assess heat up temperature and sanitize by chemical strength.
  • Conduct pre-operations check on a product contact surfaces including pumps, valves, agitators, alcoves and clamps before start up.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic to moderate operating difficulties.
  • Collect required samples needed for Quality Assurance testing.
  • Maintain communication with other departments, management and employees and notify them of any problems and/or concerns that may restrict the efficiency of production.
  • Ensure all paperwork is filled out in a clear, legible, and accurate format, and completed with required information. Ensure all required information is documented in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Analyze process data and equipment performance data to improve quality, throughput, and troubleshoot.
  • Utilize continuous improvement mindset, assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe work area.
  • Follow all required work safe practices. This would include wearing all required PPE in designated areas, confined space safety, safe chemical handling, fall restraints, etc.
  • Responsible for food safety, pre-requisite programs and food quality related to designated area. Report any food safety and food quality related issues to management immediately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Experience

Required

  • One (1) to Two (2) years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Familiarity and working knowledge with all applicable equipment

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; able to write legibly to complete paperwork

This position operates in a fast-paced warehouse environment that is exposed to wet and cold conditions. The employee will have some exposure to cleaning chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. Employees are required to wear required PPE such as hearing protection that is in compliance with OSHA regulations. Employees may experience swings in work-related demands of this position.

While performing the duties of this job, employees are regularly required to stand, walk, push, or pull throughout the entire shift.

Employees must occasionally lift and/or move 50 pounds, including above shoulder height. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus. Must have full range of body motion.
